Is it any different to the thousands of people who queue up for the new iphone, or queue up to be the last customer at Wendy's (do you remember that)? There are plenty of people excited out there to fly on a new plane. I'm not one of them and nor are you (quite clearly), but quite what this has to do with the 'Occupy Wall Street' protests is beyond me. Once again - the money has gone to charity. Thats $34,000 that charity didn't have.

Money is going to charity, Good on ANA for doing this. SQ did the same with the first flights of the A380. Good advert for ANA, good advert for Boeing - what pointless comments by ironchef.

Mod: Why have you removed my comment regarding Pachinko last night? It IS related to this topic and there are mentions of this within this thread. If you remove my constructive comment abotu this, then all matter of Pchinko should be removed from this thread. Sort it out.

Moderator: You're on the wrong thread. The subject is Christmas illumination displays, not pachinko.

..and before anybody else harps on about the Pachinko industr, please take into account that the turnover from Pachinko is estimated to be 29 trillion Yen a year. Yes, thats 380 billion Dollars. Twice the turnover of the Japanese Car industry and around the same value of illegal drug trading on the whole planet. Lets assume that they pay 40-50% of the tax that they should pay, its hardly something Japan is going to outlaw!

Can't 'save' Electricity - If there is sufficient wattage available, light them up. Life must go on.

I don't agree with the death penalty - but she only has herself to blame. Its even printed on the immigration card when you enter Malaysia. Do the crime, do the time. Chances are it will commuted to life anyway.

er..the 'Wallet' is extremely popular and incredibly useful, have you actually used it? Please see my comment above about how manby Japanese keep another phone along with their iphone.

DoCoMo won't bother with the iphone until they are allowed to modifty it to accept docomo.ne.jp mail and it has a mobile wallet. When number portability was introduced here nobody cared. The Japanese want to keep their email addresses, its all they care about- they don't care about their number. 50% of Japanese who own an iphone have continued to keep their old DoCoMo or AU phone also purely for the mail address. DoCoMo have not given up on the Blackberry - the 9900 will be released here early next year.

DoCoMo and AU have by far the better coverage in Kanto AND Kansai and still have over 70% of the market between them. Does anybody see that changing, especially with AU offering the iPhone? Those that have used Xi will know how quick it is in the cities. I use a Xi box with my iPad and its like using home broadband - miles better than using a iPad connected to the 3G Softbank Network.

I am, therefore, offering to buy YongYang dinner and drinks in Central Tokyo when he is free and awaiting his response.

Jokes aside - Whats wrong with having a balanced social/family life. Since its all foreigners posting here, on this topic, I seriously doubt that anybody's wife would have a problem with them going out after work for a drink or two after work a couple of times a week! Whilst I salute YongYang for being home at 5PM every night to play with his kids it sure as hell sounds like a boring life to live every day.

Very good. Proper consistent temperature. Yes you can clean wooden floor and it does a MUCH better job than cheaper steamers (such as the Shark). You pay for what you get.

@globalwatcher: The engine for the the first ANA variants are from Rolls Royce. As I said to WilliB, if you don't like it, don't fly it - but don't come on this forum telling us not to fly 'plastic' planes without being able to back it up with some justifiable reason. The plane is late mainly from design problems, its well tested and I am very happy to try it as soon as possible.

paulinusa: You are spot on - no need to add further to what you have said. The A350 is the plane you are thinking of. @electric: The 787 flight to Franfurt is from Haneda, 3 days a week, is overnight and is not competition. ANA fly to Franfurt daily on a 777-300ER in any case, code shared with LH, as is the daily LH A380 flight with ANA.
