Posted in: Gatland eyes English riches for Lions rugby tour See in context

There is a very strong argument here that this Lions tour provides the chance for world rugby to see these record-breaking English take on the All Blacks over a year ahead of schedule.

never will happen, the Lions schedule is brutal. Any one of the Kiwi super rugby teams on their day could beat half of the six nations teams. Poms will have to wait till 2018.

you want to eat wild boar you can buy it on the net. The bounty not protecting any meat markets, it's protecting the environment as most alpha predators have been eliminated in Japan. If there was no bounty there would be very little incentive to kill them. The price of meat is irrelevant. Our hunting group got 155 deer this season, just finished end of Feb, one deer is 10,000 yen. so the 12 of us got about 130,000 yen each for about 20 days hunting. Weekends and mainly just Sundays. Almost paid for our transport ammunition and beers.

Boars spread disease and wreck havoc on the forests so likely this one will be culled. the government pays a bounty for pig and deer.

Kings Rebels and Sunwolves, three teams no one will miss. Start fielding competitive teams or Sayonara. Lack of talent in Australia and SA, lack of management in Japan.

Goldorak

greedy sanzaar needs J money.

I think crap games means less people watch and that affects ratings. They cost more in the long run.

Risky

If they got rid of the 'home' games in Singapore, the wolves would probably have a good economic argument for inclusion.

Gate revenues don't get shared among the franchises, TV dollars do and no one tunes in to watch 17,000 happy eager supportive fans. They want good competitive games to watch, Hurricanes TV ratings against Sunwolves were way down (anecdotally).

Well the Kings and Sunwolves administrations have dropped the ball two straight years. Sunwolves treated Super Rugby as an after thought and their team shows it. Back to 14 I think with perhaps the 14th spot rotated by dropping the lowest team off each year. Contenders can play a series of playoffs for entry rights. Less is more. Sad as Sunwolves fans deserved a better administration than JRFU provided. JRFU still has an amateur mindset. Japanese rugby fans however will not voice frustrations though.

all you people saying no sympathy, have you ever swum in the ocean when there were no lifeguards or flags up? if you say know then you really aren't qualified to pass judgement on outdoor activities, if you have then it's the same as this. Yes the warnings are there but 99.995% of snow is outside of groomed pistes.

Japanese fans are so used to getting pumped they get happy at the smallest positive. Sunwolves don't belong in the same league as Kiwi teams. No better than any ITM cup team in NZ. Unless JRFU get serious keep them in the piddling South African conference. How about the top club team in JPN, SA, AUS and ARG get to play off for a promotion relegation game into super rugby? Another thing: any Japanese player that wants to play for his country must make himself available for Super Rugby if the JRFU is serious and not doing Super Rugby as a development exercise for up and coming players.

Until the JRFU invests some real money in the Sunwolves and get's all the top players eligible for Japanese national honors playing this team will continue to drag the Super Rugby comp down. Why is Mafi playing for the Rebels? He is a Japanese national representative and should be playing in his home country unless he has given away national honors. Yamada is another one that should be either playing for the Sunwolves or stepping down from the national team. Argentina has the right idea, and the ABs even better, if you want to represent the nation you have to play in it. JRFU has mis-managed this franchise since it's inception. It's not a baby learning to walk but something from another orifice being polished.

Posted in: Super Rugby faces challenges ahead of changes in 2017 See in context

Sky TV NZ is losing 200 subscribers a day! Crappy Super Rugby games and too many of them have made watching rugby another ho-hum. I on;ly watch the NZ derby matches as the rest of the competition teams are too weak to offer much with the Japanese franchise the absolute pits. JRFU isn't serious about fielding a strong team as they run the Top League comp right into February. Japan likes the sound of super rugby but all they are doing is dragging it down into the mire. Either stand up with some serious cash and players or let the Super Rugby real fans have their competition back please. This Saturday Hurricanes against the Sunwolves won't attract anyone interested in watching a good game of rugby, just those teams most loyal supporters and I suspect many Kiwi fans will see it as little more than a warm up match.

I fully support their stand. Why would you give someone you purport to love something as unhealthy as crap mass produced chocolate. Might as well just buy them a bag of sugar and include a cute @plastic spoon with a heart on the handle. Schools have a problem with some less popular kids being spurned, receiving no presents while those in the clique get dozens. This is institutionalized discrimination. How is this good for fostering a positive perception of students when the message so blatantly sent is one is not worthy of the groups affection? Pure commercialization and I am sick of it! Bring back good old fashioned tandem rides down to the river and a picnic hamper a glass of wine with the ONE you truly love.

It doesn't need to be solved. It's a naturally occurring event that has been happening for millenniums. Yes we think it's sad but nature has it's own way of controlling populations. If we do, that what are the sharks crabs and sea lice supposed to eat? FYI Golden Bay is 50kms across. The spit is very long and a great natural snare. Quite impressive. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fc/Farewell_Spit.jpg

You people complaining about Sea Shepherd, try this concept out. Strandings are natural events, mechanical slaughters aren't. Kind of like most people dying by naturally and some getting murdered. Do you all call out the cops for not doing their jobs when people die of cancer? There is no connection between strandings and earthquakes. Any major Earthquakes in NZ in 1910? Any major strandings in 2011 or last November?
