And still no mention of reducing demand for energy overall through energy conservation.

It's nice that Jackson is bringing so much money into N.Zeid. However, the true retelling of The Hobbit is in the hands of a future movie...just one movie telling the original story.

Make the casinos nonsmoking at least.

Yes work ethic and getting enough for a daily bento and booze and also just having something to do. Poverty is pretty boring, basically. However, I wish they would have some consideration for the rest of trying to sleep. I mean, every Tuesday morning around 3 a.m. I am treated to sounds of cans being rustled out of the bin and smashed flat to the pavement. Every. Single. Last. One. At. 3. In.The.Bloody.Morning...

Great recipe, but where is my oven? Not included with the typical apartment. Any way to cook this over my gas two-burner range????

He might think of joining a disaster rescue team and put his questions to a useful cause. Help others in trouble and use his abilities: here in Japan might be helpful. I wish him good luck in the future.

Was she selected because she was going to promote a return to nuclear power? If so, I don't care the reason, she's got to go. Bring in someone rational who can turn Japan into the renewable power example to the world that it could be.

hokkaidoguy...I do. And I started my own Facebook page about nonsmoking restaurants & cafes in my own local part of Tokyo Ryogoku. Anyone can do this. Why the sanctimonious slam?

Yes, hey, Zichi-san. You are not alone in the "work till I die" situation. I take comfort in the knowledge that this has been the case for many centuries. The tribal way of life has been long transplanted by what ultimately became the economic, profit-driven way of "life". I wonder if we are going to brutally return to that more congenial way of life. Feeling philosophical tonight.

Growing up, my family finished the dinner meal with a nice bottle of Coke or Pepsi. Can you believe it? Yes, I had plenty of cavities as a kid. Once I moved out, I became aware of the contents, and that I really did not like the taste and sugar, so don't drink them at all. Y'know, plain water is pretty good! And adding plant material like ocha, peppermint, etc., is truly tasty and satisfying. That's all we need.

Just because one npp survives a strong earthquake does not justify starting up all the others.

Posted in: E-cigarettes: fresh air or smoke and mirrors? See in context

Is vaping equivalent to smoking a hookah? For me, a nonsmoker, if EVERYONE on the streets of Tokyo was vaping, would I no longer be threatened by their thoughtless clouds of cancerous chemicals? That is the main issue for me. Addicted drinkers, for instance, can sit next to me in a bar or restaurant, but their problem does not become my problem. Smokers now, exhaling their clouds of noxious chemicals, means I am not enjoying my meal/drink, and will have to wash all my clothes (and me) the second I get home to wash away the dangerous stink of possible CANCER causing chemicals. The gall of smokers today is truly depressing.

Disgusting. If I was forced to wear that short dress and work the airplane aisles, you can be sure I would stop by the local conbini or ladies' wear section in the general clothing store and buy those speciality-of-Japan black panties that specifically hide "that area" from upskirters and gawkers. Sure thousands are sold to young gals in the rolled up pleated plaid skirts of their school uniforms.

Even after numerous calls to the police to warn my neighbor about his yappin' border collie, nothing worked. I moved away. Solved. Here in Japan, not sure what one could do aside from going to the local police.

People are going to have to think for themselves on this one. Government or TEPCO isn't riding to the rescue. Weirder, people north of Ishinomiya are getting reading rebuild their washed away town and schools on the same flat exposed land. Hidebound thinking at its finest.

Is there any serious consideration of energy saving and alternative, sustainable energy? I hear rumors, but don't see much in the news at all. Not very encouraging. Opening up the npp is just too damned risky, don't you think?

At least she isn't lingering at home behind shut windows wishing something would happen. She made it happen. A winner no matter the sporting outcome. That's the energy people back home need.

Posted in: Thyroid examination See in context

Why haven't people taken action? Closing the windows is less than useless, it's delusional. Do something! Go make a tent city outside TEPCO's president's home and office. Draw some attention. Organize and find other places to live instead of sitting there in fear.
