I guess the media will be clinging onto the 0.0001% chance she does and constantly re-ask her the same question at every after match interview she does from here on in.

However, Hawks battery coach Yoshiharu Wakana gave a revealing insight after the game, telling reporters: “It would be distasteful to see a foreign player break Oh’s record.”

Completely ignorant to the fact that Oh himself is a foreigner.

Every news show will be out to interview this guy....when they pan back to the studio the comments will be 'sugoi ne'....but what they'll really be thinking is 'what an idiot'.

Tritium levels spike at Fukushima nuclear plant

Only days after Abe san clearly stated to the IOC that it was "all under control" and also that he would take full responsibility.......why am I not surprised???

I totally agree....the power of sport is amazing. I do hope the reconstruction efforts up north do not get affected by the shift of focus towards the Tokyo olympics.

Japanese people would see this as 'inspiring gaman....never give up in the face of adversity'.....and a whole lot of other stuff. I simply see this as stupidity and an enormous lack of common sense. Anyone with 1% of brains would've simply walked into a koban.....problem solved.

So one has a WBA title, another has a WBO title, and Daiki won an IBF title. Its an amazing acheivement that the 3 brothers have 3 world titles at the same time. But does anyone else think that boxing just has too many organisations / associations / federations and differing world titles???

We already have a $4.5 billion Olympic hosting fund so financially there’s no problem—we’re secure. We also have city and government guarantees. There is no worry

There is no worry??????? What a croc!!!!! Just wait and see......if Tokyo gets the nodd I bet there will be new taxes imposed left right and center all under the disguise of 'everyone doing their bit to fund the games'. If I was living up in Tohoku I would be livid that they are still pouring millions into the thought of hosting the games.

The two leaders after day 1..........both have caddies who used to caddy for Tiger Woods. Would be great to see Adam Scott win his 2nd major.......no one better on the bag than Steve Williams to steer him around the tight course.

Hey just do what Tiger did......release the story to one magazine (for a hefty sum) in a tell-all with photos of the baby and what not. It will stop the media frenzy because there won't be any scoop to get anymore.

Posted in: Woods coasts to 8th win at Bridgestone See in context

Amazing how silent the Tiger critics become when he wins. What an awesome display from the greatest golfer ever to play the game. Asked after the 3rd round if he thought Woods was going to shot 59, Hideki Matsuyama said '59? I thought he was going to shoot 56 or 57'. Sam Sneads record PGA tournament victories will be equalled and possibly surpassed by year end.....after that Tiger will start reeling in Jack's Major record haul.

Posted in: Mickelson wins British Open at last See in context

Congratualtions to Phil (and bones). The only golfer who looks as if he is enjoying every single second doing what he does whether he wins or loses. He always has a thumbs up for the cheering gallery and quiet often will spot a kid in the gallery and toss him his ball even after a bogey........A great amongst the greats and not only because of his wins. The consistency of Adam Scott in big tournaments is amazing. He has been knocking on the major door for so long and I can see him adding more big tournaments to his Masters win from earlier this year. Hideki Matsuyama has proved yet again that any comparisons to Ryo Ishikawa needn't be. Matsuyama has flown past Ishikawa in the world rankings and is proving himself as a REAL challenger on the world stage. Tiger Woods again failed to break par over the weekend for the 9th straight major however anyone who says he can't win another major will be looking stupid real soon. The thing about Tiger is he is consistently putting himself in contention even when he isn't playing well.....the major drought will break and his quest for Jacks record will be the talking point within the next two years.

tripbeetle: "Drivers must be constantly and acutely aware of everything and everyone around them - and awake to worst possible scenarios - especially when driving through places like carparks."

And mothers must be constantly and acutely aware of everything and anything that might go wrong when they have a little 2 year old walking with them - and awake to worst possible scenarios - especially when walking through places like carparks.

I have seen this far too many times in car parks where kids just wander off like they are at a park and there mothers and/or fathers just watch from afar as if all will be fine. Commonsense commonsense commonsense.

Way to go Hideki. Nice kid and awesome golfer who has done so much for my daughters golf. You are a true star who will one day be up near the top of the world rankings. Goes about his business the way a golfer should............out of the limelight with his results doing the talking. Great family support who really keep him grounded....hats off to you on everything you've done so far as well as to your parents and your sisters for their never ending support on keeping you level headed. I predicted this would happen when he first turned pro back in April. He is gonna leave Ishikawa in his dust.

Posted in: Ehime enacts law instructing cyclists to wear a helmet See in context

police and prefectural workers took to the streets to remind residents that the new Bicycle Safety Ordinance requires bicycle riders of all ages to wear a helmet

I'm sure they will obey these laws..........pretty much the same way that they obey the making your child wear a seatbelt law and not driving through the red light law. I wrote here a while back about how I witnessed a police car (in Matsuyama) pull up along side a mother with her 2 children jumping around the car like dogs on a trampoline, at a set of lights. The window wound down and the kids, virtually hanging out of the window waved frantically at the policeman like he was a rock star. The policeman waved back with a smile and drove away when the light turned green. Laws in this country are written but hardly ever enforced....sadly.

And as usual...not a mention about Hideki Matsuyama who did great and finished 10th. If it was Ishikawa who finished 10th in the US Open it would have made the headline news (Opps I forgot...Ishikawa didn't qualify). Matsuyama won in Japan last week and not one mention was made of it on JT. Obviously he doesn't have the press in his back pocket as Ishikawa has. This kid is going to be head and shoulders better than Ishikawa but the press keep ignoring him.
