I'm about to send my daughter from Brazil to Japan so you all can imagine how sad I was to read all that...
But, I can say this: western teenagers can be a hand full... Latin Americans are a lot less rude, though.
And on top of that, as far as I know, the Japanese aren't very straight to the point. So, that is a hard combination! Teens who don't know what they've done wrong cuz nobody tells them, and grown ups who get to cope with somebody else's spoiled kid for free. All I can say is that I really hope my daughter doesn't disappoint her Japanese parents, after all they opened their homes and hearts to have her there. They deserve RESPECT. And it is something western teenagers should learn a.s.a.p.
If Japanese families prefer having English speaking teens at home just so they can practice their English skills, that's bad. First of all, that's not the point of being a host family. Second, their missing on the opportunity to meet different people from different cultures. A pitty indeed.
