Posted in: Japan racks up ¥462.5 bil trade deficit as imports balloon due to cheap yen See in context

Which is offset by record profits on exports. They are losing daily not increasing the price of exports. If customers were good at paying $10 for something then adjust the price so it’s still $10. The dollar strength means record profits.

So instead of treating permanent residents equally as Japanese residents they want to revoke it. I think it’s just a way to get rid of the Chinese that are flocking here who are being granted PR in droves. They should revoke all visa holders for not paying taxes and insurance and sponsors required to pay it back to the government. This way all visas are fair. Also America and Western countries should also revoke green cards of Japanese holders who do the same.

Assault happens all the time in Tokyo walking down the street. Some could say those walking watching their phone they slam into you have assaulted you. Wish they would start arresting them.

So painting a cross walk there is to difficult? Seems to have a cross walk in front of a convenient store in the country would make sense with our without a view of Fuji. The effort to not put effort is amazing.

Good. How did he get sleeping pills TK knock someone out. Most sleeping aids in Japan are worthless. That part of the story is strange. But glad he got what he deserved. Let him make sand.

Stupid at the least. How to make your customers more irate than to put push 1 and push 2 and talk to a robot. Self service customer service is becoming ridiculous here. They are returning to their roots. Softbank always was the worst company for customer service.

Posted in: Law change lets Japanese police crack down on rule-breaking cyclists See in context

So now we are going to have police pulling over people they don’t like who don’t follow the rules and ignore everyone else. Frankly the biggest cycle problems are the mothers with kids riding on sidewalks and riding on cross walks in any direction they want. Pushing their way thru traffics even in shinkuku. Worse anywhere else. So now will this be equally enforced or just with people they don’t like.

Posted in: Kyoto study finds nearly 500 translation errors for foreign tourists; new guidelines released See in context

Hire a native speaker to check translations. Really simple. Translators in Japan have serious attitude and fight over the most meaningless words in their work, especially the Japanese ones to the point people just give up and use their bizarre words. Just hiring a native speaker to read them and check solves all of these issues. The flower shop near my place sign is “Flutes and Flowers” musical instruments and flowers. lol. Fruits and Flowers were their intention but said they messed it up and it’s funny so they kept it. lol

If the mother was not aware her disabled child was pregnant, huge red flag. DNA should be done on the child to determine the father as personally being disabled a sexual crime might have happened. This is sad Sunday morning reading.

The lack of any security is amazing. Someone can just pull up a truck and take them away without anyone knowing.

many melons are 700 yen now. Hanamasa is 700 I believe.

At his age it’s amazing he can keep track that there are that many let alone walking around. Farmers usually up at 5am and his age 4am. Wonder why he was so late to work

What a horrible work environment. Forgot how sad offices could be. The total lack of thought. I can’t imagine spending 8 hours a day on that environment. The logo placement is quite nice as well. Far more effort on employee surroundings. Lord they even share a phone still. Sad indeed.

I don't even go to mini stop anymore near my place as the service is horrible and the food not prepared like it once was. The two ladies working there everyday always speak to each other in chinese. Rarely around and expect the self-checkout lane to be used. Everything has become touch screen this and self service that and its not a good thing.

Posted in: More Japanese workers turning to job resignation services See in context

I’ve heard mothers go with their kids to the interview now as well. So resigning with help isn’t strange. The old managers who beltch out orders and treat staff like they are an emperor is common. Once had a meeting with the CEO of a computer software company come late to my interview for marketing director and then the first words out of his mouth were “I’m the emperor her can you do what I say?” To which I replied aren’t you hiring me for my expertise? So no I can’t promise that. And he started to stand up and walk out to which I said “excuse me if you need a yes boy I’m not your guy. I’m sorry but I’m really disappointed by your question. Best of luck” he paused and just continued to walk out the door and my agent next to me appeared shocked but I wasn’t. It’s common here. New staff are given nothing to do but fetch coffee and tea or pick out party locations. Glad the new generation has decided that’s enough.

So basically if it makes japan look bad it’s blocked from real foreign media that investigate and critically examine the story’s and report on them. Freedom of press in Japan is very low and this seems to be a way for the local governments to hide stories.

Someone also mentioned gas prices. Let this sink in.

in Japan 1L is about 160 yen. Rent 80,000 yen Bills 30,000 yen average salary 300,000 yen

in Indoneisa 1L is about 110 yen. Rent 20,000 yen. Bills 10,000 yen and average salary 50,000 yen.

who says Japan isn’t over charging when prices in Indoneisa are about the same but the salaries are drastically different. People here should be saving a ton.

My diabetes medicine in Japan WITH health insurance is the same price as Indonesia WITHOUT insurance.

wake up. Companies are just price gouging.

Posted in: Private-sector advisers urge proper BOJ response to weak yen See in context

Companies are now taking in record profits with exports. Japan has very poor planning. The economy is shrinking, salaries are that if 30 years ago, what do they expect. When you pay your staff 3k a month and expect them to live etc in 2024. Insane. With a stronger dollar the economy is actually stronger. People will realize their money is valued from 30 years ago and record profits of companies show the wage gap is growing. Japanese are fleeing overseas already to earn money. Japan’s government influence in the market is just temporarily strengthening it. The real value is probably around 175 to the dollar and even my Japanese friends say it. I did notice the graph from the last year. Interesting dips are around major National holidays. I think the government is simply adjusting for its citizens to travel abroad. It doesn’t make sense.

I’d like to see a place reverse it for the free PR. Let tourist have the discount. Christian Cafe that used to be in shinjuku had a foreigners members card that when shown would let foreigners skip the line and be next to be seated. It was a huge hit for tourist.
