japan's bid for the olympic are doomed from the beginning because this racist tokyo governor and tokyo or any other japanese city should make another bid for 2020 games because i think it will be a straight fight between asian continent and north american cities. japanese cities biggest rival for the 2020 games will be indian cities like new delhi and mumbai, in my opinion. anyway, kudos to rio and i will definitely be there!!

TonyUS : 1)your jerky president nixon's 1972's warming up to china has got a motive behind, to engage and contain their biggest enemy i.e. soviet union and china just play along. 2)if china's export were to grind to a halt, china has nearly two trillion dollars reserves to hike up its economy, but did you really see it coming? 3)tiananmen was orchestrated by the west and it is a known fact. after the meddling and collapsing eastern europe, they try their dirty hand on china, got burn and turn their attention to slice up soviet union. 4)china's economy backtrack by three years after tiananmen? the west crawl back to set up more factories and pour more monies into china.

You evidently don't understand the difference between the offensive ICBMs that the Russians deployed in Cuba and the defensive missile shield designed to shoot down offensive ICBMs...
USNinJapan2 : defensive missile shield are defensive in nature but they are also designed to be offensive. if it can shoot an incoming hostile missile it can also shoot bombers and fighters within its radar and besides that, range and radius can be increased and enlarged at will. no wonder russians feel threaten and that's the reason why they install their own "defensive" system as well.

USA's economy is in tatters for years to come, most investors will give south america a miss, europe is very protective of their economic boundries, most of african continent are rather unstable and arabian countries has got its limitations, so naturally the choice goes to asia. with china and india's economic engines goes into higher gear, i dont see mr murdoch business acumen wrong.

What a load. Japan owed up to her past back in 1972. If it was good enough for Mao Tse Tung and Chou En Lai, I'm sure it's good emough for the gazillion other Chinese.
i think ultimately USA are afraid of seeing a united asia, hence the CIA's conspiracy of trying to make asian country quarreling with each other all the time. the master of divide and rule, and i salute CIA for this.

to tonyUS, with due respect, where did you get the idea of USA building up the economy of china? my time in china tells me chinese are industrious, hardworking and risktakers and their success are primarily due to their own hardwork, albeit with some bad apple thrown in thus giving the chinese product some bad name. i guess tonyUS has not been to china and see how the country works and it is purely his own speculations.

his holiness should not be so ambitious on this issue. the chinese knows CIA wants to control tibet because of the limitless minerals in this regions and they know china will be their no.1 rivals in the future.so they are using the DL as a pawn to push for independence in order to control the vast tract of land behind china. nobody wants an enemy operating at the backdoor.

the neighbour is closer than your faraway relatives. my opinion is instead of the US doing the balancing act, china and japan should warm up ties and engage US together. But the trouble is japan had never own up to her aggresive and brutal past. Should japan do and gain the trust of her neighbour, the sky is the limit.
