The man said he'd been drinking most of the night before. It could be inferred he was drunk but it doesn't say he was nor does it say that he was using it as an excuse. To me it sounds like a bit of the old Dutch courage on the part of the 20 year old.

My comment should have read sensitivities and not sensibilities.

Posted in: Japan to conduct first major survey on racism: report See in context

Of course there is racism here as there is all over the world. I'm a white English speaking male from a Japanese ally. I have never had my social liberties denied and I've never felt threatened. I have a good life here. However, I don't know if the same exists for other people who are not white or don't speak English. As for me, I don't see being called gaijin, assumptions about my Japanese ability or not being allowed to vote as racist. Some say that the racism is thinly veiled. That kind of comment says more about the individual's sensibilities than it does about any racism that may be present.

@sensei. I was complimenting you for stating the bleeding obvious. Don't see how that equates to sympathy but seeing you mentioned it I do feel sympathy towards her because I'm human. As for anger? I wasn't there and I would assume it wasn't premeditated so why should I be angry. If it makes you feel good to be angry then go for it.

About time they did away with the nudity. What always annoyed me about my collection of Playboy, Penthouse, Mayfair, Ribald, Asian Darlings, Young Mums... etc is that I had to put up with filth just so I could read a good article. Talk about a hard time.

Can the Republicans change their candidate at this late stage? I was reading some comments from many Republican bigwigs and they don't seem too happy with him.

Posted in: 9 found dead in Iwate home for elderly after typhoon See in context

Perhaps the bodies are those of the care workers...? The idea they knew the typhoon was going to hit that area directly, cause flooding in that area and flood that building is ridiculous. We were supposed to have been hit by the typhoon and my kids' schools were closed. The typhoon missed our area. I feel for those who died and their families.

Grandfather and granddaughter enjoying a day out only to end tragically. These stories make me so sad. I know how excited my kids are when they go out with their grandparents or aunts and uncles.

Well hell, let her speak up.

Come on, that's a horrible tone to have towards her and she has spoken up. Why did Trump pick on her. A bit of a low act. It may not be important to many but I hope that America chooses a President who has political experience. A billionaire business man as President is a worrying thought.

Lock him up because he'll do it again. I don't want to read about some poor K1 fighter getting beaten up by this rogue hairdresser just because he looks at the hairdresser suspiciously. But seriously, an old lady? Who would push and kick anybody, let alone an old lady? Bet his family's proud. If you can't handle your booze then don't drink.

I feel sick. What an incredibly sad story. Sad? Doesn't really say much. @Smithinjapan, I suppose it's easy not to feel pity, after all we are detached from the horror and the story is just words on a page. @disillusioned. Smack the father till he wakes up? Are you fair dinkum?

I think people need to chill out in regards to Baby Metal. They are harmless and a lot heavier than some music that I've listened to that is passed off as Metal... whatever Metal means. Anyway, the image first then the music will follow. Seems like that they have got the image down pat...perhaps.

@CrazyJoe. You made some good points. However, step 7 - I would side with the so called Liberals. Why did America and Bush invade Iraq? WMD or oil? They definitely poked blindly into a hornets nest.

I saw this on YouTube yesterday. Rob Halford is a legend and all class. I hope that other bloke (can't remember his name) who was interrupting their acceptance speech recently was watching.

Based on the video and eye witness reports, it appears that it might have been a white right wing extremist. Today (or yesterday) was the 5th anniversary of the Anders Breivik attack.

Where did you hear that?

I don't watch a great deal of TV. I like ItteQ and anything with Downtown. I'm glad Japan doesn't have those shows where couples compete to build houses or Big Brother.I would imagine many programs might seem bad anywhere if you don't really understand the language or culture.

@Wc626. Unfortunately I'm not an American. I was implying that it is up to Muslims to do something. I'm not sure if the truck driver was a refugee. He was Tunisian, wasn't he? He would have been an immigrant from the former French colony. As for Trump... you can have him. Whatever the solution, I just hope America stays out of it because we've seen what their policies on Iraq during the Bush Jr years caused.

Ridiculous! Next you'll hear that Obi Wan Kenobi has come out or the new Mike Brady ... not to mention loads of Shakespeare characters. If they want to write in a gay character then fair enough but to change a character because the original actor is gay is gay.
