@dcog9065. My own country's (Australia) is the worst.... not one of ; ) but I think we generally take the whole anthem and flag thing too seriously.

@drlucifer. I think everyone cares but many of us, I include myself, sadly see this as Iraq and to be expected. In my lifetimegIraq has mostly been in conflict. It's only human nature to have greater empathy when a tragic event is closer to home: regionally, ethnically, religiously ... and so on. Doesn't make it right but that's the way it is

@burakumindes. No worries. @lostrune. My father in-law and his mates used to go to Thailand and other SE Asian places often. They went there to play 'golf'. He stopped going... reckons he's too old and not up to it anymore. I said fair enough... and how about golf?

@burakumindes. It's not a 15 day visa. Japan has waived visas for up to 15 days i.e. no visa required

@Erin Loydi. I'm not having a go at you but I'm curious to know where we draw the line in regards to making jokes about murder. I'm sure we wouldn't joke about a family member or someone we know being murdered. I've made remarks in the past and then thought "would I have said that if it were a different person?" Sorry, I just think it's a curious thing we do.

@strangerland. Same here. I have never had anyone bump into me while they were engrossed with their phones. Surprised it hasn't happened considering how addicted we have become to these cursed things... both here and back in the old country. Although I myself have bumped into others on the odd occasion ... some call it perving.

Sexually aroused by cutting hair? When I was 17 perusing the pages of Ribald did it for me. Just hope he isn't aroused by the feel of scissors.

@ChaosWyvern. I can understand your annoyance but the image too often precedes the music anyway, when it comes to Metal. Therefore, I would consider them just part of the many sub-genres of Metal... whether or not if it's considered good... I like the so called NWOBHM but I don't really like the hardcore Deathmetal or 80s glam stuff. However, it's all Metal... or Rock.

It's me. I'm jealous. I can't run anymore. I sometimes walk. I suppose the moral is not only to learn to swim but stay fit. However, I would imagine panic is a major factor, whether or not an older person is fit and can swim.

@it's me. Where are you from? Don't forget the couple were in their 70s. I learnt to swim when I was 5, was in the swimming squad in high school and did a water survival course as an adult. I weigh 18kgs more than I did 25 years ago. I'm nearly 50 and very unfit. I can swim but not for long. If I were in a similar situation I think I might drown.

Posted in: Boxing legend Muhammad Ali dies at 74 See in context
Is it 'great' to receive so many punches to your brain? He was an exceptional boxer but 'greatness' is much more than just out-maneuvering and out-talking your opponents. To purposefully put yourself in a situation where you have damage done to yourself doesn't seem 'great' to me. Skillful yes, a clever talker yes, great - not at all. IMO
Yes, it is your opinion but he has just passed away so how about a bit of respect. To many of us he was more than a sportsman or boxer and we wish to express our admiration for him by responding to an article about his death without fear. Also, for me Ali was part of my childhood and I would watch the fights with my father. My father died about a year and a half ago from a Parkinson related disease (PSP) so Ali's death brings back memories of my father.
