First time I heard that for a reason.

Seriously there are a lot of things to relive stress, especially in Japan where you could do alot of things. Sit back and watch a movie, play videogames, go to parks, watch some live concert. Even just watching someone play at a game centre is entertaining enough.

If he has a daughter (I highly doubt it though) and her daughter becomes a victim of this, what would he feel? He should have think, before doing it.

Morality in this country truly sucks

If they revert back to Imperialism then I'm out of this country for good. National interest before basic human rights? What would you think will happen to non-Japanese like ourselves?

What threat? The Philippines can't even wage war if they like to. Chinese wants the world to bow down to them.

You have no claim. Everything is done legally. So just shut up. Idiots

I live in Funabashi but the security is not that tight. Hope its just a prank. Stations are the easiest target to be honest. Just saw a guy pass without paying and no one cared or noticed. Even small things like that gets in easily, then terror attacks can.

These are results of rampant kiddie porn in Japan. You could literally buy mangas of little girls having sex to games that are focused on young girls. And they don't wonder why pedophilia in Japan is high..

A creepy, unemployed, 36 year old pedophile maniac. By his confession, this isn't his first time. Oh Japan..

@MrBurn Basically, almost every Filipino politicians are greedy and corrupt. We have this term called "TRAPO" or Traditional Politician who promises during election campaigns but forgets about it when elected.

Pres. Duterte is a bad-mouth, no denying that. But look at his achievements in his home city, Davao. It's far better and safer than Manila and other cities that other politicians bragged they did. Like for example former vice-president Jejomar Binay. When he campaigned 6 years ago, he boasted he made Makati (Central Business Area of the Philippines) to what is it right now. But in reality one of the most prominent families of the Philippines, the Ayala's made almost all remarkable features of the city, from business hubs, city parks, shopping malls, hotels, etc.

The Filipino people is tired of this TRAPO's and wanted change, and they saw change through Pres. Duterte.

And to the people comparing him to Trump, well he is not. Trumps ideology is more on racism unlike Duterte who wants change and enforcement. Don't compare him to Trump if you don't live or lived in the Philippines. Just saying

27 years for 3 people? That should be 3 life sentences or the death penalty for that gruesome murder..

Yeah if he gets 27 years in jail he will die in the jail anyways, but still, what if this was a man in his 20's or 30's then even if he kills 3 people he will be free at his 50's.. What a stupid decision..

Justice for Mirei..

This guy deserved what he got. Being under the influence of alcohol is not a free pass to do hideous things. You did a crime: killed and cut her into pieces, you only didn't deprive her of her right to live but also destroyed her future, such a young child may had a bright future ahead.

This guys doesn't deserve to be loose an deserves to die..

They should had at least patience to care for the women since they knew that the woman had a mental disorder. She making a mess is not a reason to beat her up and eventually kill her. Family is Family, mentally stable or not you should care for your family and treat him/her right.

This two should be in jail and be locked up for the rest of their lives..

And the guy who was married and cheated on his wife was not persecuted, ridiculed and is still business as usual. I don't care if Becky was a TV Icon, the one who is wrong here as not Becky but the guy..

Seriously, Becky didn't knew that the guy was married, he only admitted he was married when the scandal appeared and everyone blames Becky, because she is the woman. A clear evidence that sexism is abundant in Japan. If they want to be fair, persecute the guy as well and not focus on Becky..

If no ransom was demanded, worst case scenario is that she was stalked by some perverted guy then abducted. All this years she maybe dead.

But it would be good if she just ran-away for a bit and safely returned to her parents..

Seriously, you could hear a lot of news about Japanese police doing perverted things themselves.. They should be the ones who uphold the law, serve and protect the people, not the ones who perpetrate them. They should really have tough screening when it comes to their police force. This is the reasons why my girlfriend always says that the police here are inefficient..

Posted in: 15-year-old boy arrested over murder of mother See in context

@Giveme_abreak I'm not jumping into conclusions, I just said a theory or just a possibility.. But knowing this is Japan, its very common for parents to put their child in cram schools and pressuring them to get high grades as possible to go to a good university. Good University = Jobs at big companies...

Posted in: 15-year-old boy arrested over murder of mother See in context

I really don't understand the "Age difference" comment. But this is really sick. One possible theory I could think of is the mother was always pressuring her son to study and go to cram schools to go the a good university and get a "good" job. A typical Japanese parent. Maybe the pressure was too much that he "snapped".

The thing is, parents should focus more on family relationship, rather that keeping pressure to your child to study more. This things could be avoided if both the parents gave time to their son rather than giving him mental stress..

Posted in: Patrolman commits suicide in toilet at Yokohama police station See in context

RIP to the patrolmen.. They should investigate on what was the cause that led him to kill himself. As we all know, because of the hierarchy system that Japan has, bullying not only in schools but on workplaces are rampant. This guys is young, only 25 years old, maybe a new recruit that was bullied, and can't take it anymore. As the above comments mention, they should really have psychological screenings for people wanting to become police officers. Their job is not like office work, they see people killed, go to murder scenes, etc.. It's a high stress job and if even in the office they're are getting bullied, this will really be the result.

Posted in: Japanese music stores engage in war of words over idol handshake events See in context

You read my mind. These type of events attract the auction hounds trying to make a quick buck from the addicts. Same reason why Arashi has tons in their fan club to be able to purchase tickets and make tons of money.

They also sell handshake tickets in Japan in some ticket shops. I saw a shop that sells like 1,000 yen per ticket. Almost half the price of the actual CD. But if you go to 2nd hand stores like "Book off", you could buy newly released CD's for about 500 yen. Because they got a lot of stocks from people who bundle buy for the tickets...

It doesn't really refute the "otaku" angle, but Hatsune Miku is internationally recognized. "She's" the only Japanese singer I can think of that's done car commercials here in the States.

There are a lot of talented artist in Japan if you have time to look for them, they just don't get recognized because the music scene, music shows, top 10 charts are flooded mainly by idols (AKB, Johnny's, etc) because they sell and they get high ratings because of the groups die-hard fans. I am a fan of a group (Don't know is saying the name is ok), all members have raw talent (singing/dancing) but they hardly get attention from music shows, They only perform but when it comes to talk or interviews, they usually don't (especially if AKB is around). They only performed on Music Station one time because if you watch Music Station right now, its like their guest every week are idols. Also I heard that Johnny's controls guesting's on music shows, they don't want other boy-bands to steal the spot light from them.

If you want real music, go and watch street performers. A lot of them are really talented but are often ignored because music labels in Japan wants "cute that sells" than "talent that doesn't".

Posted in: Japanese music stores engage in war of words over idol handshake events See in context

Well true, if you are a hard core otaku, you will buy multiple copies of the same CD just to participate in "handshake events", "special prizes", "fan events", etc.. And a lot of Idol Otaku does not care if the idol is not good at singing or not, looks are your best bet if you want to have a lot of fans. I was an Idol Otaku too, but I didn't bought a lot of CD just to join a 5 min talk with your "idol". But I saw a lot of this when I was still active and I agree that if you want to be #1 in the music charts, just put a lot of "special prizes" that comes with the CD and sure you will hit.

Posted in: 7 things Japanese people in int'l marriages wish they’d known before tying the knot See in context

I also believe that the key to a successful marriage is not considering each other as "Japanese" and "Foreigner", but as human beings who are in love and wants to be together. Our cultures are different but if we keep an open mind and accepting our partners for what and who they are, conflicts such as cultural difference and the whole "Because I am Japanese" thing would be resolved.

I always tell my girlfriend that I don't treat her as a Japanese but as a Human Being. But she always say that "I am Japanese" or "This is Japan". I think that mentality is deep within themselves that is hard to change..
