Madverts,

The republican party is going to be just fine because Obamacare is now working its 'magic' with liberals. The elderly gentleman in my cite is from the east coast, let's check in on liberal California on the west:

"I was laughing at Boehner -- until the mail came today," Waschura said, referring to House Speaker John Boehner, who is leading the Republican charge to defund Obamacare. "I really don't like the Republican tactics, but at least now I can understand why they are so pissed about this. When you take $10,000 out of my family's pocket each year, that's otherwise disposable income or retirement savings that will not be going into our local economy." "Of course, I want people to have health care," Vinson said. "I just didn't realize I would be the one who was going to pay for it personally."

Why do liberals hate old people?

In a Sept. 23 letter, Blue Cross notified him that his current plan doesn’t meet benefit requirements outlined in the Affordable Care Act and suggested a comparable plan for $1,208 a month – $980 more than he now pays.

“I’m 62 and retired,” Schwab said. “This creates a tremendous financial burden for our family.

“The President told the American people numerous times that… ‘If you like your coverage, you can keep it,’” Schwab said. “How can we keep it if it has been eliminated? How can we keep it if the premium has been increased 430 percent in one year?”

But let's get down to brass tacks:

Yes Let's : A) He purchased a shotgun to commit his crime. B) A ban on the purchase of assault type weapons even if it had passed would have done nothing to prevent this crime. C) He the shot an armed security guard during his rampage and stole his weapon. D) He then used the stolen handgun and fired on more victims.

So unless you wish to ban shotguns from individuals in a step that even Japan doesn't take that far, and disarm security guards you would not have prevented this from happening. Even with the deterrent factor of an armed security guard on site, it didn't prevent this murderer in his calculus from carry out his rampage and in fact it unfortunately ended up providing him with another weapon to continue his killing spree . One can only conclude that even with what most of the world considers reasonable individual citizen gun ownership (shotguns) and the added deterrent of an armed guard on site, that a person this hellbent on killing others was not going to be stopped from carry out his demented killing spree until he himself received a bullet in his head to stop him.

NYT excerpt:

After firing down on people, the gunman began to search for more people to shoot, and as he searched, he was confronted by a security guard near an exit, according to the officials. The gunman shot the guard and took his semiautomatic handgun, then headed back to the atrium.

“He runs back upstairs and cranks off more rounds with the handgun and then heads to another stairwell, where he confronts a worker there and shoots him,” the official said.

Super,

So, as usual, crappy option A vs. crappy option B.

I think Mark Steyn sums it up best as to how weary we all irregardless of our politics anymore when it comes U.S involvement in the region.

"For a quarter-century, from Kuwait to Kosovo to Kandahar, the civilized world has gone to war only in order to save or liberate Muslims. The Pentagon is little more than central dispatch for the U.S. military’s Muslim Fast Squad. And what do we have to show for it? Liberating Syria isn’t like liberating the Netherlands: In the Middle East, the enemy of our enemy is also our enemy. …So we’ll get rid of Assad and install the local branch of al-Qaeda or the Muslim Brotherhood or whatever plucky neophyte democrat makes it to the presidential palace first — and then, there will be, as in Egypt, burning Christian churches and women raped for going uncovered."

'Obviously'? How so? Because he says so?

Not because he said so at all,, but because the evidence supported his claim that it was self-defense and the jury after seeing all of the evidence concurred with his self defense claim by returning a verdict of not guilty., That is how so..

Ms. Cleo

Yes, and if someone punches you in the face by all means call the police,

Moot point: as he already had called the police prior to his being assaulted by Martin and, they were already on the way to the scene. I will predict that you will respond that he should have waited until they arrived no matter how bad his head was being battered on the concrete and I would sympathetic to that view, however I wasn't being beaten to the point where I felt my life was going to end. Zimmerman obviously thought his was and that's why we are here at this point today.

.Super,

But if he's checking you out in a threatening manner and you feel that your life is in danger, you can kill him, right?

No, of course not, ,but If he's checking you out and waving a knife in your face at the same time or reaching for a gun or after punching you in the face continued beating on you and pounding your head in the ground and wasn't showing any signs of stopping......,.Yes..

No, it is the fault of the rubbish laws that allow a cop wannabe to wander around the neighbourhood with a loaded gun, shooting whenever he 'feels threatened' in a confrontation of his own making.

Ms. Cleo there is another "rubbish law" that states you just can't punch someone in the face just because he is checking you out, it's called assault and I highly doubt that you would support dropping that law off the books.

I think this article sums up my feelings on the Zimmerman/Martin case perfectly.

Great Article Molenir, Shelby Steele is also the author of "White Guilt: How Blacks and Whites Together Destroyed the Promise of the Civil Rights Era". White guilt — a condition he says has been just as harmful to black America and is in prominent display by certain posters here screeching everyday by their ramblings since the Zimmerman verdict came back not guilty based on the actual evidence of the case.

"You know, when Trayvon Martin was first shot I said that this could have been my son. Another way of saying that is Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago."

President Obama has more in common with George Zimmerman than he does with Trayvon Martin. He is a man of mixed race heritage, with one parent hailing from Kenya, a poor third world country and had the rich cultural background that is unique to a person of that type of heritage growing up. George Zimmerman is also of a mixed race heritage, with one parent hailing from Peru, a poor third world country and he also had a rich cultural background unique to a person of mixed heritage growing up. I would say both went through the same unique and hard adjustments growing up as to which culture they would most strongly identify with as adults. It is only by fate that President Obama's last name is not Dunham, his mothers maiden name and Zimmerman's last name is not Mesa, his mothers last name, if surnames were granted using the mothers last name. Unlike his speech after the Tuscon mass shooting that I found to be outstanding for its tone and message of civility, I found his speech nothing but divisive and horrible for the country.

Sailwind, the question is meant for people to give their personal opinion and that can only come from you. If you say it would make no difference to you to be black or white in Zimmerman's situation, then just come out and say it. I'll respect you for it since no one else will go on record.

My honest opinion, it would make no difference if the situation was 100 percent exactly the same with the exception that Zimmerman's outer skin color was black, purple, orange, mauve or a hue of a brownish Caucasian Hispanic mix (which is what he exactly is).

Posted in: U.S. questions self-defense law after killing of unarmed black teenager in Florida See in context

I'll ask one last time: If you were in Zimmerman's situation, would you rather be white or black knowing what you were about to face in the legal system?

Doesn't seem to make any difference at all when it comes to self-defense in the eyes of a jury, found something quite relevant to this question:.........(Mr. Scott is African American much Older Adult, Christopher Cervini is a white 16 year old teenager,)

Jury Finds Roderick Scott Not Guilty

"The message is that we can all go out and get guns and feel anybody that we feel is threatening us and lie about the fact,” said Jim Cervini, Christopher’s father. “My son never threatened anybody. He was a gentle child, his nature was gentle, he was a good person and he was never, ever arrested for anything, and has never been in trouble. He was 16 years and four months old, and he was slaughtered."

Scott says he acted in self defense when he confronted Cervini and two others saying they were stealing from neighbors cars. He told them he had a gun and ordered them to freeze and wait for police.

Scott says he shot Cervini twice when the victim charged toward him yelling he was going to get Scott.

"How can this happen to a beautiful, sweet child like that?” asked Cervini’s aunt Carol Cervini. “All he wanted to do was go home. And then for them to say, he was saying, 'Please don't kill me. I'm just a kid,' and he just kept on shooting him."

Mr. Bum and Zichi,

I'll address both comments with the same answer:

Yet you keep reaching for reasons to blame the unarmed kid who was killed instead of the guy who killed him and provoked the whole situation. Why is that?

Nothing from you on Zimmerman and his criminal history like being accused of domestic violence and tussling with a cop for over-speeding

I'm not blaming Martin at all and I don't post much about Zimmerman because the media has flooded me with more information about Zimmerman then I could ever care to know about almost all of it negative and almost all of it with a bias to try to make me form an opinion that he is the worst human being this side of Hitler. The media hasn't flooded me with information about Martin other than he was the about the most perfect human being to ever walk in a hoodie and any information to the contrary has to be dug out from other sources other then the media to find out anything really about him and his life (such as the autopsy, text messages and such). This is the only reason my posts focus more on Martin then on Zimmerman period.

That does not make him into some violent thug you would like to picture him.

I'm not trying to picture him into some violent thug at all, if that was my goal I would embellish facts with conjecture to slant it that way. I am not engaged in that at all. I'm posting nothing more then undisputed evidence to counter misconceptions such as he didn't have liver damage as he did have it after all and it's noted in the autopsy report. I did not claim he used DMX at all but did note that it does cause liver damage, since there is a theory out there that he did use what is called "lean" on the street that can be made by mixing skittles and an arizona ice tea fruit drink with codeine into a DMX like concoction so people can make judgements for themselves. I also posted his text messages excerpt to counter misconception that he didn't have history of violence or aggression when his own text messages shows that he did have a history of it and even wanted to pursue more aggression even after winning one fight he was in.

The sad part about all of this is if we would had unbiased professional press reporting on the case in the first place the facts that I posted above would have already been well known and I wouldn't have to post them as counters at all to the misinformation out there on the case and spread by our joke of a media these days..

In the official autopsy report its states:

LIVER: No diagnostic abnormality http://media.cmgdigital.com/shared/news/documents/2013/07/05/trayvon.martin.autopsy.pdf

However on page 4 of the report it states his liver is damaged and noted as such:

" focal patchy yellow discoloration due to mild fatty metamorphosis is present"

Which something one really doesn't see in the livers of healthy young 17 year males. Fatty livers usually take years to develop usually from chronic abuse of alcohol or other drugs:

Also According to WEB MD DXM abuse does cause liver damage:

Teens and DXM Drug Abuse

Facts parents and teens need to know.

When taken at high doses, these other drugs – like the pain killer acetaminophen – can be quite toxic. They can cause liver damage, heart attack, stroke, and death.

Racist: Do I believe Zimmerman targeted Mr. Martin solely based upon his race? Yes.

FBI didn't come to that conclusion at all.

FBI records: agents found no evidence that Zimmerman was racist

After interviewing nearly three dozen people in the George Zimmerman murder case, the FBI found no evidence that racial bias was a motivating factor in the shooting of Trayvon Martin, records released Thursday show.

Even the lead detective in the case, Sanford Det. Chris Serino, told agents that he thought Zimmerman profiled Trayvon because of his attire and the circumstances — but not his race.

Text messages from Trayvon Martin's cell phone:

In another, he refers to a fistfight with another boy who "snitched" on him.

"I lost da 1st round but won da 2nd and 3rd," he writes, according to transcripts posted on the defense team's website.

"Im not done with fool…he gone hav 2 see me again."

Put a black man with a gun in a car at night and have him stalk a white teenager, kill him, then claim self defense. You've got to admit that case would be viewed differently.

Totally disagree Super,

If the situation were exactly the same except George Zimmerman was African American and Trayvon Martin was Anglo the media coverage would have been overwhelming slanted and biased in Zimmerman's favor. Headlines screaming that an African American is entitled to self defense after being assaulted and beaten by a suspended high school trouble maker. He would have been portrayed as a caring neighbor and a protector not as a monster and all of his good qualities played up and all of Martin's bad qualities would have been played up ever harder to vilify him as an aggressive evil thug,

That's the way our joke of a press operates anymore. There is no such thing as an objective press anymore in the U.S.

They'll deny it, and give you all kinds of BS about it but it boils down to "He didn't know his place". 2013 ladies and gentlemen...2013. sigh.

No offense, I've been following this case quite closely from the moment it hit national headlines and I concluded quite quickly that Trayvon Martin's parents are good parents doing all that they could to keep Trayvon from falling into the traps that snare so many young African American's in the US, the gangsta street thug lifestyle. Trayvon Martin was not in Sanford Florida because he wanted to be, he was sent there away from his peer group in Miami by his mother to his father to get him away from this environment in an attempt to get him back on the road that would not eventually land him in jail at some point in his life. This is nothing short of good parenting and I happen to find it pretty disconcerting that you use the phrase "He didn't know his place". I have no doubt in my mind that his parents had taught and stressed to Trayvon that you do not assault and beat up other individuals and that is the proper place one conducts themselves on an everyday basis no matter what the circumstances.

I am positive you will not agree with this but my overall view of this entire tragedy boils down to this:

Frustrated neighborhood watch captain tired of seeing his area constantly being hit by burglars encounters a very angry young man with a chip on his shoulder for now being wrenched out of his peer group and friends with both ending up acting out their frustrations on each other with horrible tragic results for both families.

The mere fact that no harassment charge was filed is no proof at all that the unlawful acts of harassment and stalking did not actually take place

The mere fact that no harassment charge was filed is proof that it wouldn't hold up in court and would be a waste of time to even file it.

Shinjuko No Yaju,

Just a question, Are you are aware that George Zimmerman is not white but a mixed race individual with his father Caucasian and his mother Peruvian ( a poor third world country) and when it comes to race he has more in common with President Obama then most people as he is also of mixed race heritage with one parent being Caucasian and a father from Kenya (a poor third world country)?.

It is so abundantly clear that Zimmerman subjected Martin to harassment -- and was clearly engaged in an unlawful activity under Florida l

He wasn't charged with it so it wasn't "abundantly clear" to anyone involved at all in the Florida legal system.

When you choose to watch someone, and they notice you, and you continue to watch them and then follow them, all that is needed under Florida law to constitute harassment is for your target to feel significant emotional distress.

I guess any person who was ever arrested in Florida after being tailed for awhile by a concerned citizen should be arrested also by this weird interpretation of the law as the prospect of the cops coming creates "emotional distress" in the person as the net closes in on him or her..

Seems pretty clear that Zimmerman's course of actions against Martin prior to their altercation were unlawful under the Florida statute.

The jury rejected the stalking aspect entirely when they found him not guilty of second degree murder under the Florida statutes which includes acting with "enmity toward the victim or the two had an ongoing interaction or relationship"

Florida Statute 782.04 2n: unpremeditated murder as a result of aggravated stalking:

To prove second degree murder, a prosecutor must show that the defendant acted according to a "depraved mind" without regard for human life. Florida state laws permit the prosecution of second degree murder when the killing lacked premeditation or planning, but the defendant acted with enmity toward the victim or the two had an ongoing interaction or relationship
