Interesting to see commentators bashing SK media, when major new papers in the US such as the LA Times, NY Times, and Washington Post are bashing the Japanese media and Abe for their white washing of WW2.

Posted in: Fires burn in Ferguson; gunshots heard in streets See in context

People are commenting on the importance of the right to bear arms in cases of riot, but they should realize that during the 92 riots, LAPD confiscated many of the guns of the Korean business owners who were protecting their stores after TV news started reporting news of gun battles in Koreatown. The LAPD, the cowards they were, hightailed it to the westside to protect the White neighborhoods.

If not for the residents of Koreatown, who came to aid their neighborhood businesses and Radio Korea, which coordinated the defensive positions, the whole of KTown would have burn down to the ground.

Watching the violence in Ferguson MO on CNN and wondering --

Makes absolutely no sense to pillage, loot, and burn your own neighborhood. I can understand why certain members of community might be angry with the grand jury decision, but come on DON'T POOP WHERE YOU SLEEP.

Posted in: Obama spurns Republicans with immigration orders See in context

What the President is doing makes sense in the real world -- Kick the criminals out, let the undocumented parents of American citizens stay to help raise their kids. Who the heck is going to the raise their kids? The State? Extended families? Kids need their parents. In Nevada, approx 1 out of 5 kids have at least one parent who is undocumented. Are you really ready to forcibly break up and deport 20% of families in Nevada? Let the undocumented immigrants come out of the shadows and pay a fine for breaking the law, pay back taxes, and get back of the line for a green card.

@djv124 @Alphaape Comparing your spouses' case to these undocumented parents is like comparing apples and oranges -- 1)Your spouse got green cards, theses undocumented parents are getting three year visas. 2)The only real fees that your spouses were required to pay were application processing fees. While these parents are required to pay a FINE, back taxes, and application processing fees. 4) Moreover, there are"no lines" for spouses of US citizens to get green cards. The Fed start the green card process as soon as they get the application. These parents are required to get in back of the line , which could literately take a decade to get a green card.

I support President Obama's push to keep undocumented parents and their American citizen children to stay together -- it's a family values issue.

@Peter Payne

One thing I never understood was, why doesn't the government ever try to use patriotism to get people to support stuff?

Isn't that the perfect example of the TAIL WAGGING THE DOG? The Japanese are rational, they don't need J-gov't using the totalitarian propaganda tactics, to make decisions about how they are governed.

On the democrats side --

I don't think that Hillary and Bill are pictured on the banner as the article suggests. I actually think it is Elizabeth Warren, the progressive Senator from Massachusetts, and Chris Van Hollen, the power democratic congressman from Maryland. Both are extremely notable figures in the Politico world.

To be sure I guess you have to ask the artist - But Warren and Van Hollen, makes more sense.

So quit your nonsensical dribble.

Follow California news much? California's economy is growing again after bottoming out 5 years ago. And seriously, what is your beef with California? California, unlike most RED republican states, actually pay in to the federal coffers. Most RED STATE (excluding Texas) are WELFARE STATES of the federal gov't and leech off the Fed's programs and money. Get your facts straight!

I personally hope that pope meets this brave korean female professor,韓国世宗大学 University, パク・ユハ教授, who concluded ,"Comfort women were prostetutes", and "they were part of ex-japanese military working together” in her book after research.

These women are not prostitutes, but were victims. Former "comfort" women in Korea, China, Vietnam, and the Philippines - though many in their 80's - are still trying to have their stories heard and their inhumane experiences remembered.

Please don't re-victimize these women by slandering them.

From the article -

More than 1,900 Gazans have been killed in the four-week war, roughly three-quarters of them civilians, according to Palestinian and United Nations officials.

So roughly 67% killed are civilians -- this is not okay. Israel needs to do a lot better job in reducing the civilian deaths.
