Isn't this the same country that refused to help boat people in distress threatened with drowning, the same country of the "One Nation" party, and of reported considerable racism against racial minorities? I had thought that my native Canada removing statues of our first Prime Minister so as to make our First Nations feel more comfortable was going too far, as I had respected Sir John A. Macdonald starting our country by peaceful means. Now, I'm starting to feel like maybe my native country has been doing the right thing, among other reconciliatory initiatives.

Tokugawa Ieyasu recognized Western grandstanding for what it is, whether in the form of Christian proselytizing of his day or the current “gender-affirming care for minors” crusade of ours.
Capital punishment absolutely is the only correct and humane course of action in many situations. It is sad how my native Canada keeps twisting itself over the continued existence of certain truly horrific murderers whom we all know should be dead. The Japanese public had rightly expected the torturers of Junko Furuta to pay the ultimate price, but as these torturing murdering scumbags had been 16 or so, they were saved by a piece of Western virtue signaling with a catchy name.
Come back please, Mr. Tokugawa.

Whoever are controlling the women committing these horrific acts certainly know about these pregnancies and should also be held accountable.
The government/society here has been doing a lot of good initiatives to stop violence against children and for unwanted babies to be adopted, such as with the hospital baby hatches noted in a comment above. But, it’s clear something needs to be done about this miserable repeating pattern in the industry reported above.

Sadly, "performance"-type murderers, rapists, and torturers receive fan-mail and inspire copycats everywhere, including in my native Canada. That is why I am so grateful for the correct and courageous decision of the death penalty for the mass murderer of disabled persons in Sagamihara. Because life, even behind bars, is power.
So, in sticking up for the right to life of disabled people everywhere, thank you Japan.
