I must say Japanese reporters' pieces from the AP and other wire services read quite well but I am afraid that this article was "heavy plowing" for me - then I see it is Thomson Reuters... obviously this chap has not been given proper editorial advice not to mention good journalistic support. I mean, not finding the title of this "financial diplomat" (maybe it is industry jargon) until the fifth paragraph, it is irksome to not know what the job title is soon after one starts reading. The story certainly seems not to be in the Inverse Triangle form to me either. I believe the third paragraph definitely should be moved elsewhere after being pared a bit, while the background bits about possible currency market intervention should be combined and rewritten. I wanted to know more about coordination with IMF in light of the Greek mess... but despite an intriguing lead, for naught... .

In Japan it is really so easy to see "mass psychology" at work - before long JR East and JR Kyushu will follow suite (though I predict those big bottles of sake and Shochu surely will lead to tussles between security and passengers intent on "wine tasting")... just hope they have impressive-looking chaps as security personnel and not beerbellied kids!

Oh I say DMoore, burning the midnight lamp? Rather agitated are we... must have meant $1,000/yr for 6 or 10 or 12 issues eh (contextwise 4 and 5, obviously not); well I can understand the anger swelling up but do keep tabs on issues!

Sink me - surely things do not tally! Even old Keynes would have said, "With THIS, we'll be all DEAD in the short run!"

Indeed - my girlfriend works for MUFJ... we're inviting her boss over for dinner; I'd love to have this photo framed near the dining room, it has a nice artistic touch!

Wait a tic! I gather from Tex's rambling that he still must be interested in the future of FCCJ. However, old chap, it seems an explanation as to how an open seat came about is in order first.

Wot! No vote counts? Quite...10 candidates for eight seats, and three did not make it, and there are Reserve Directors even - indeed did some chap withdraw?

I assume in order to obtain the press card from the Foreign Ministry (that in itself I feel is inimical to a free press but...) this Penn chap had to provide evidence posted from his US-based "agency" to the government organ here - if it was otherwise, "passing off" as a "company" providing news - wouldn't this be tantamount to mail fraud, at least by US Postal Service standard? Even if not guilty of mail fraud, would one want to be part of an organization which has someone who would do such a thing as an officer?
