Umm.....Enough said.

It sounds no more ridiculous than if you described any other sci-fi/ fantasy movie or book into one sentence. Or even just mentioned a title. How about this one: A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court

It seems the critics had better reasons to deride the film.

Its a lot harder to find them in places not as safe for kids as Japan. Coincidence? I don't think so. Its not Japan that should emulate others. Its others that should emulate Japan. But pride precludes that.

On this score and many others, I feel safer raising my child in Japan. The last thing I want is ideas that have made everywhere else less safe.

Well SmithinJapan, the last part of your post certainly explained the knee-jerk naysaying of the first part. But I think you have me confused with someone else, or possibly your Smithinjapan account confused with another.

I'm far worse than Japan? How does that work?

Are you a country with a sex offender registry? Gee, I have never conversed with a country before!

but go ahead and back up what you've just stated.

You want me to back up the idea that people on a sex offender registry are made to feel like they are still criminals even after serving their time? That is quite a task, and not something anyone can prove in concrete terms. But here: http://www.deseretnews.com/article/695262646/Secret-shame-Keeping-watch--Sex-offenders-face-lots-of-supervision.html?pg=6

Several experts interviewed for this story urged caution about placing so many limits on sex offenders that they can't operate or function in society.

This is the beginning to doing that. And as it fails, more restrictions are added. More failure, more restrictions. The people always get locked into the idea of more is better. But its not. Law enforcement and the companies that serve them, love the cycle, because it equals money.

One thing is of sure, it won't keep the safety of denial alive and well,

Your turn to back that up.

Yeah, best to drive child sex offenders into poverty. That will keep them from reoffending for sure! It certainly won't make them resort to something like murder if they go for a next time.

When in doubt, always up the ante! Japan is so dangerous because they just don't realize that!

Sarcasm off.

When are people going to get serious about this kind of thing?

Maybe when it gets to be a serious problem in Japan?

This imported idea won't make Japan safer. What I see is that everyone using this idea is far worse off than Japan. And no surprise since you treat people like criminals even after they serve their time, and lo and behold, they feel like criminals and act like criminals. This may well push recividism rates up as well as mar justice and freedom. A lose/lose in my book, but a win/win for some I guess, especially those who stand to profit or have job security from crimes like these.

“’The Jews have killed our brothers and sisters in Palestine,” the killer reportedly said

This choice quote has been widely reported. It was stated over the phone while he was holed up in the apartment.

But its just one cherry-picked quote from a whole conversation I don't have access to.

But couple it with his targeting of Muslim paratroopers who "killed his "brothers and sisters" in Afghanistan. What do you get? Well you sure don't get anti-Muslim do you? So why grab at anti-semitism so fast?

Obviously, this guy would have killed an Arab-Israeli just as fast for "killing his brothers and sisters in Palestine". Conclusion: His primary beef was, apparently, given the facts, Israelis.

If he said Jew instead of Israeli its a common mistake the more stupid and crazy an individual gets. Its not anti-semitism to be stupid, but you sure have to be stupid to be anti-semitic.

Posted in: France insists no evidence links gunman to militant groups See in context

Seems this is the common pattern. First, blame someone else, hopefully white like a neo-Nazi.

That is not quite what happened. No group was blamed. Conjecture was offered (and that is a problem in itself), and it seems that the neo-Nazi angle was emphasized. However, that angle did fit the facts, just as much as the facts did not rule out a wanna-be phoney Muslim extremist. And that is what he was. He was no more a Muslim than Anders Breivik was a Christian.

Second, admit the terrorist was Islamic, but not connected to anyone (the lone wolf theory).

Its more like finally figure out who the perp is and describe him accurately.

I guess he was travelling in Pakistan and Afghanistan for the good resorts and fresh air, eh?

There are good reason for people to go there. But hindsight is 20/20. Now we know he was a wanna-be.

Next, we will read about fear of backlash in the Muslim community.

Yes, because people like you insist on seeing Islam as responsible rather than a lone wolf idiot nut who misinterpreted Islam.

Typical Japan. Those responsible don't take responsibility, the leader does. The leader resigns and gets reshuffled to another post and still gets his post-retirement leech in the shack outside the station, where he will drink coffee, smoke cigarettes and read the comics.

Japan is like watching a magic show: smoke and mirrors, sleight of hand and bullshoot. Yet, the people seem to really believe the lady was sawed and half and the elephant vanished.

Among the people listening was John Miller, a 25-year-old white student from Orlando who was joined by Hispanic and African American friends.

Somewhat conflicts with the headline, don't it? The press is ever trying to sow unnecessary controversy. I am sure the overwhelming majority of sane Americans of all races have a big problem with Zimmerman walking scot free without even an arrest or interrogation. No need to try and make it look like popular outrage is divided along racial lines, because its not and only fuels racial tensions more than they already have been.

then

JR said a male passenger saw the driver using his cell phone and then admonished him while the train was stopped at a station.

Well, which is it?

I don't see why drivers should not even be allowed to take their cell to work. Its not like they have to turn at intersections or something. A wiser rule would be no texting, and use a hands free set. I am more worried about driver's falling asleep than talking on the phone, and the later might prevent the former.

I wish the press would stop this crap. They look for any excuse to mention al-Qaida, much like Bush did when he was actually talking about Saddam.

If some guy from al-Quaida once punched some guy from Jund al-Khilafah, the press would declare them linked!

And as for Merah saying he was involved with al-Qaida, yeah, crazy people talk a lot of crap.

The Prime Minister said everything was done right.

The President, Sarkozy says: Sarkozy vowed Thursday to crack down on extremism, saying he wanted legal action against people who regularly consulted jihadist websites or traveled abroad for indoctrination.

Classic double talk. Everything was done right, but we are thinking to change things anyway. Nice way to play both sides.

But lets look at Sarkozy's statement. He wants legal action against people who regularly browse jihadist websites? Well, so much for freedom of thought. One guy goes nuts in France, so lets change the rules? Bad idea. Don't fix what isn't broken, or this could well happen more. Why? Because if you oppress people for thinking and talking, some will figure they have to get violent to get their freedom of thought back.

But of course, after an event like this, people don't think ahead. They become reactionary. Sarkozy is betting on it, just as much as he is benefitting from this tragedy in the polls, party for his Jewish parentage.

Given the randomness of the targets,

He wanted to kill Israelis. He killed at least three Israelis, two dual citizens. I don't know about the principal's daughter. (you are right about the principal, my bad)

He wanted to kill children. He killed three children.

He wanted to kill Israeli children. He killed at least two.

Maybe he checked out the Rabbi, principal of the school, knew he was Israeli, and thus, so were his kids? Maybe.

See I don't know for sure. I don't read minds. I did see a youtube video about the school. And I am going to venture a guess that there are a lot more sources of information about the school and its unfortunate deceased principal and family and its all been available for a while. Or can the military not fire their anti-missles without his civilian opinion? Or do they need an order from him and no one but him, and from the hard-line he sleeps next to and not his cell phone?

Pah! This is just a bunch of crap.
