Elephant in the room: Japan is "black hole of child abduction" and children rights as stated in the UNCRC chart of rights (which Japan signed) are systematically violated.

It's fundamentally unsafe having children in Japan, they can be taken away at any moment by one spouse and the family law is rotten.

No wonder that Japanese are less inclined in having children, and the ignorant foreigners that still do are met with life-long nightmare of legal battles to get to see their child 1h a month after divorce.

It was so satisfying to see an abductor apologizing and recognizing the fault.

I hope she can be an example to all the parents in Japan that act like this.

Also, Japan, wake up. It’s 2024.

Now you need to educate the corrupted judges who sentence parents to “3 letters a year” as visitation right.

The step is in the right direction but the way is still long for Japan to become a decent country.

So long overdue. I couldn’t believe Japan did not have joint custody until I found out at my own expenses.

Now we need to hope that the actual law does not get diluted in the typical Japanese way of showing as things are changing just for them not to change at all.

Lack of joint custody and shared parenthood often leads to this.

Mother kidnaps and disappears with her child, gets a new boyfriend, and the child's father is cut out and unable to oversee and protect his kids from these strangers when they get abusive.
