If I were the parents I would have changed her to a different school the minute I sensed she's been bullied. Bullying is very common practice here so you either join or quit.

The obachan and ojiichan should just stay at home instead of going out to fill up their time with activities. I have even seen an obachan with mobile oxygen pack at the gym. I wonder why can't she just stay at home and watch TV instead of coming out in the hot Summer day?

Posted in: What would be your ideal summer fling? See in context

Ideal summer fling? Bumping into Amuro Namie at the laundromat (coin laundry), striking up a conversation and ending up spending Wednesday nights in romantic embrace at my place until the end of September when she jets off to the US for a Coca Cola Zero commercial shoot and I go back to having students repeat "This is a pen" while I fantasize about my summer vacation...

borscht: that's so funny!

Well, to be honest, I am more of a traditional Japanese woman, but I think that Japanese woman are warm-hearted and have a powerful core. It is difficult to show this kindness or core, but that’s what I would like to express in the final.”

well, well, no worries Itai San. J women are so good at faking everything and making them look soooooooooo real.

Wow the Kimono materials are gorgeous. Thank God this year's design is not so prostitute looking. lol.

With a Latin guy while I’m traveling abroad! I think he would give me an incredibly passionate trip!

—He invites me to go for a drive one day, and I find out he’s booked a room at a seaside hotel. That would be the best!

wow! sounds like all those J women are so sex crazy....and yet they behave so noble and refined. Yet in reality only God knows....lol.

A 58-year old man and a Filipina woman in her 40s...assuming she's his girlfriend, I bet they fought over his younger companions. The poor woman could have spent some years of her younger age to be with this man and he's now probably running around with women half his age...RIP.

Posted in: Get me to the airport on time See in context

I'm happy to take the local line. Cheaper and it still gets me to Narita. I'd rather spend more of my money on savings than spending on unnecessary things like going out of my way to catch the new train.

A couple uses a hammer to smash their wedding ring to symbolize the end of their eight-year marriage during a “divorce ceremony” in Tokyo

What a silly ceremony! Marriage and divorce seem to be taken so lightly in terms of emotional values...

Posted in: Japan weighs up whether to give foreign residents the vote See in context

So we are seen as equal to the Japanese by the goverment (and many Japanese) except for the local voting right

Zenny11: In papers yes we are seen as equal. But not in reality. I'm also a Permanent Resident of another country where my parents reside. I do vote for that country because I'm knowledgeable about that country and feel welcome in that country. Plus I grew up understanding that country's language and culture before moving there. But in Japan, apart from lack of knowledge, I also don't feel welcome to be part of the society. So I don't see the reason to vote and get myself involved with the Japanese politics.

Posted in: Japan weighs up whether to give foreign residents the vote See in context

I'm a Permanent Resident of Japan. But I don't wish to vote for any Japanese Politicians because I'm not that knowledgeable about the Japanese political history let alone the Japanese history. My job is to contribute my expertise to the Japanese society and I'm well paid for that. I'm still a gaijin and will never be accepted into the society. So I'm just happy being a 'long time guest' of this Country...:)

The seishain bullshit has to be eliminated. It only create more lazy and unproductive employees. No wonder this guy bear the grudge. He's probably a productive worker for all we know but just was not taken seriously by Mazda. Being a temp worker is real shit with all the snobbish seishain looking down on you.

What a sad news. I came across many J people who can't swim. I wonder why? there're so many swimming facilities and coaches here. At the gym only the oba-chans and ojichans are learning to swim...lol.

In 2 months he'll be having fun having his pics taken, in 4 months he'll get no popular votes, in 6 months he'll age 5 years more than his present age. In 8 months, he'll say ooops, sorry I must leave office. Next PM, please!

Posted in: SATC2 See in context

When I first watched SATC series, I didn't like it at all. Thought the characters were immoral and so unrefined. But as time goes by and I had no other English series to watch on my tv except this one, I began to observe the characters a bit more seriously and reliased that there're lots of truth to be learnt and pondered about. The characters may be mean to some male chauvinists but I think they help many women deal with life, outside of their professional image. They just don't tell men about it.

And in Japan, the J women certainly are already doing it secretly behind their men's back....just than some men are too naive to understand it..lol.

Posted in: What are the pros and cons of living together with someone before you marry that person? See in context

I won't live together before marriage. Reason: I don't want to lose my freedom, don't want to share the household expenses and don't want to end up wearing apron at home like the Japanese women while still having the title 'single woman'....:)

Posted in: Club hostesses hold first protest over working conditions See in context

Bar hostesses are people one rank above fast food workers and one rank below prostitutes. They should be happy that they have a job because they are not qualified to perform normal work and if they don't like their work conditions, get out of the industry and go elsewhere.

Have you been in a situation where you have to feed your children and yet not qualified to perform normal work? You surely would resort to any sort of jobs....

What's this eye for an eye thing. Never solves anything. YOu would just produce a more violent person. I suggest solitary confinement for a few months (min 3 cause we all know how much Japanese people like to be alone, so a month would be like a vacation, but 3+ hmmm) for reflection plus councelling :)

LOL. Hopefully he'll send her an apology letter and pay for all her medical expenses too. Normal J formality craps.

yeah, yeah...only on TV..I bet she sounds oba-san in real life. I've met some actresses before who look so elegant and refined on commercials and in reality....just like any ordinary J oba-san..lol
