Strong words.

Absolute total agreement.

Hope Prince William's next stop is Sri Lanka.

We have a large, beautiful Sri Lankan community in our parish that is reeling in grief.

.It's like the Christchurch bombings a few weeks back in NZ - anywhere innocent civilians are targeted, especially in their sanctuaries of worship - to dramatize some kind of 'point' is utterly traumatic, heinous, detestable, and unspeakably tragic.

Praying For the repose of their souls.

What do you mean by "historical context for the decision to drop the bomb?'

There is NO "historical context for ANY country that justifies murdering civilians.

Carole galvanted, in a private jet, around the world to connect to and influence different principle parties.

M guess was that this would backfire .

It did.

.

Ghosn and Carole are learning that they have to play by the rules now.

Macron is keeping his distance .

The YELLOW VESTS have him and his "privilège de la noblesse" friends in the crosshairs.

No one in Europe gains from perjuring or co-opting with Ghosn - who hijacked millions of Renault- Nissan money for his personal gain now.

@ Chop Chop He can still write and pass it to his Lawyer.

Ghosn and his wife, are devious enough to find a way to surreptitiously violate bail agreement - and the cry 'foul' when they are exposed.

@Kenji This is why I hate how other zombies are

Since You lived and studied overseas, you will be aware that 'zombies' are group-think is a ubiquitous phenomenon in every country.

@ SaikoPhysco

.

NO attorney has credible argument in Court with salacious, specious smear innuendo.

These prosecutors have FACTS.

Just because they are not disclosing all the facts to the public , does not imply that their appeal to the J Court based on smear tactic.

.

It's the defense attorneys - who have no other concrete defense strategy - but to resort to a public campaign to 'smear' the integrity of the prosecutions.

The facts have emerged and will continue to emerge.

The man will not only be prosecuted in criminal court, but will also have civil court to face; in Japan, in France ,possibly in Netherlands and US.

Embezzling, money laundering, tax evasion are not taken lightly.

.

And trying to influence witnesses is also criminally indefensible.

Posted in: Prosecutors suspect Ghosn's wife contacted parties linked to his case See in context

.

It seems the J Prosecution Team let Carole retain the US passport so they could trace her movements when she departed Japan for France earlier.

And it seems one or more of the sources she contacted confirmed she was trying to influence their testimony.

Very unwise.

The Ghosns continue to grandstand - still believing they ( like Marie Antoinette) are above the law..

The Netherlands, France, as well as US does not take ot money laundering and tax evasion easily.

And so-called 'friends' among the elite will not throw themselves to the lions on their behalf.

Mike James:  Michiko's marriage and rise to Empress was nothing close to "unparalleled serenity & majesty." It was one of the biggest struggles ever documented.

.

Moreover, whatever the hurdles, it did not take the the quintessentially regal Empress Michiko 27 YEARS to come to terms with her "Role", and "Responsibility" as Crown Princes and subsequently as Empress - almost unequalled among royalty.

Mike James : .. It was one of the biggest struggles ever documented....

I am aware the of the immense hurdles and even the adversity within the palacial ethos that Empress Michiko endured.

She - in face of all that- demonstrated exemplary courage - as Hemingway defined : grace under pressure.

.

........There are dozens of intriguing backgrounders on why Masako said no.

.True. Am also quite cognizant of these stories.

That being said: she DID agree. She said "YES".

She was not a child-bride.

That shows how much smarter you are. You KNOW yourself. You stated in your post wouldn't take "the bait"

Indeed, Noone forced her to marry the Crown Prince.

It was her choice

.

And you and I - as the common, red-blooded civilians - have a sense of the restrictions and exposure of that kind of life . . .

How much more, if one is moving in that kind of environment?

She was not a sheltered ingenue.

She comes of a gentrified family her father being a diplomat.

She studies at Harvard ( economics) and back to U of Tokyo ( law).

And worked for the Ministry ff Foreign Affairs .

She had the experience, training and personal skill set for the demands of life as a princess.

The Judicial system allows for the treatment of illnesses .

Greg Kelly had / has problems with his neck/ vertebrae and was treated; in fact had surgery..

Ghosn's medical needs will be equally addressed.

@Reckless: So sad. She made a tragic mistake

.

.

No. It's a smart move.

I think - for one thing - she realized France was not going to interfere with the J justice system.

Her hope was that the French Justice Dept would protest.

.

But Renault has a bag full of evidence against Ghosn which it has passed to French prosecutors.

Realizing that France was not the panacea she had hoped, she leaned on the advise of the French lawyers to return to Japan.

.

It would look better for Ghosn if his wife was not out of the country.

.

Besides, the Japanese prosecution is NOT going to arrest her.

.

They have evidence, and they want to question her on that evidence -l ike lawyers do in EVERY case- even in No America.

And if w potential witness is not willing to cooperate, lawyers will issue a subpoena.

.

It happens all the time.

.

That's all.

Ghosn saying he is "innocent" does not make him "innocent."

Conversely, saying he is culpable does not make him 'guilty"

.

Since his bail - NOT ONLY J prosecutors, but also Renault has discovered evidence of Ghosn's complicity in the in the diversion of R-N moneys via Paper Companies for Ghosn;s personal use.

.

This 'evidence ' still has to be proven in court - but the allegations are very serious.
