Does anyone know of a market where electricity prices decreased after deregulation? Every example I know of (California, etc) has only increased significantly.

Actually, given the amount of money they are spending on just the sea wall and the population of the city, they could pay everyone in Kesennuma a full time salary for over 50 years. Instead they are just building a concrete wall and giving money to construction companies. Did they tell that to the visitors?

Unless Japan builds its own military and learns to stand on its own once again, there could very well be an invader coming in the future.

Why spend 4.1 million JPY to whitewash history and lie to future generations?

Casein in milk binds to polyphenols, thus reducing anti-oxidants in your body, leading to great oxidative stress. Pasteurized milk has AGEs which damage cells.

More nuclear = less pollution, more money, and a healthier world.

Better raise taxes again! We can't have wealth in the hands of regular people, but rather concentrated in the banks and other oligarchs.

Yes, let the whole world embrace American imperialism. Maybe we can just give up national sovereignty too and pay tribute to King Obama.

Posted in: Japan's trade deficit balloons to record Y12.781 trillion in 2014 See in context

This was almost all caused by keeping the nuclear plants shut down. The cost of nuclear plants being shut down is equivalent to hosting the olympics every month, and that is discounting the environmental costs of acidifying our oceans (oceans are so acidic now that within 30 years there may be almost no plankton or fish left; 50% of the oxygen you breathe is from plankton, so you should care!) and streams and new cancers from burning coal and other fossil fuels.

Sounds like chronic vitamin D deficiency. Not going outside makes it harder to get vitamin D, thus it is a negative feedback loop.

There are more radioactive isotopes in bananas than this rice.

Posted in: Tokyo 2020 Olympic Village to be hydrogen-powered See in context

How will you get the hydrogen? Actually doing that will use more electricity than just storing oil/coal-generated electricity in batteries. Thus it is the opposite of eco-friendly.

Eco-friendly is clean and safe nuclear power, where 1000 years of pollution free energy could be provided by known uranium reserves, if fuel is reprocessed.

Posted in: Aso says sales tax hike delay must not happen again See in context

Japan is indeed over the financial cliff already and in free falI.

I've got my money in digital currencies like Bitcoin and NEM. I don't trust that the politicians won't just devalue the currency a couple of orders of magnitude (inflation is the same as taxation).

Posted in: What Japan's recession means for the country See in context

This is a dangerous situation. If the politicians aren't careful, Japan will end up like Korea where everyone is a slave to foreign corporations and banking systems (even Samsung is over 50% foreign-owned; foreign corporations and banks don't care about the welfare of the citizens of other countries and treat them like modern-day slaves).

Posted in: Japan's economy contracts 1.6% in July-Sept quarter See in context

I hope people can start to realize that debt-based economies don't work. Abenomics never even had a chance of working, even if the tax hike hadn't been passed.

This is why we need decentralized economic systems like bitcoin and NEM. It's time to put control of the economy back in the hands of the people.

Posted in: Cheaper tomorrow? BOJ battles entrenched 'deflation mindset' See in context

Especially in Japan, we need peer-to-peer, decentralized currencies like Bitcoin and NEM. Money is a representation of a person's life force and it doesn't make sense to let bureaucrats arbitrarily change the value of it.

The distribution of people/food/farming have also changed a lot, so it is possible that the changes in animal populations are related to these. It is likely that a lot of the easy food supply came from human produced food and irrigated environments.

Foreigners should be made to pay sells tax. That's the best argument for a sales tax, in fact, so as to help subsidize the economy on the backs of the tourists.

This is why we need peer-to-peer digital money like bitcoin and NEM, so that governments don't have the ability to mismanage all of our lives.
