Can you imagine, the "...ano......", ".....so da na.......", ".....ma.....", and the muffled cacophonous air sucking between the clenched teeth droning behind the masks of these so-called decision makers! Yes/no, On/off, until the Games start. Mark my words. I say some venues yes, most no. Game time decision.

@William77

Wow. I agree.

As for Vaccine Chief Kono, this just proves how backwards in many ways J-Gov is. The country needs help and he was tasked to lead the way. One would think...logically, the Chief can bypass some regs and get the task completed. To blame on the system, is, wow...no words. Very weak. These so-called Ministers are just...you fill in the blank(s).

It behooves us at why this 'amakudari' system would even consider and give this position to Mori. WHY? Gaffe after gaffe, it is very shameful. It seems obvious that Mori's staff is actually running the office but the 'talking head' is just that...A dumb talking head. C'mon man, dont let this happen again! Japan needs to move away from amakudari and have people who are qualified to run the show. Oh wait, that's malarkey! Wont happen????

C'mon everyone! Japan Inc. needs ITS people to travel outside the country for work. If JGov mandated ONLY Japanese business nationals, as it did awhile back for pleasure travel, there would be another 'shaving cream storm' of outcry. And yes, JGov thinks viruses only affects tourists and travelers. Here's the Deal JGov. Eliminate this 'cryomagnetoarachnozeenophonicphbia" and open up!

Posted in: Japan to grant re-entry 'gradually' to foreign residents stuck abroad See in context

This is a classic example of how the Japanese ----------------- is prevalent. It behooves one to think that banning PR and Spouse Visa holders while citizens of Japan can 'freely' conduct travel for business and personal reasons during this 'pandemic' is an effective plan. I am echoing all here that this thinking is a some sort of ---------- that wont go away. You can fill in the blanks yourself and it will ring true to personal experiences for many here.

Total utter shaving cream for Japan to have this type of restriction. We have a place to go, not a hotel, to 'quarantine' if necessary. Japan needs to get out of the froggy stone ages in some areas.

@AviBajaj

You must have forgotten Ghosn led the way to mass produced EV cars, the Nissan LEAF.

Back to topic, tough for CEO Uchida to lead a comeback. Just read there may be a rift starting in top management in Yokohama. Ghosn predicts Nissan will bankrupt. Lets see after FY 2020.

Posted in: Renault-Nissan can overhaul alliance without ownership change, chairman says See in context

Sad to say, but this was the plan always for this crumbling alliance. You need make products and keep current with what the market and people really want. At least for Nissank, the CVT transmission, is your weakest link. I know JATCO is your subsidiary so you must improve the reliability and/or offer is very select models. The people want a 6-8, or even 10 speed auto transmission. Imagine in North America the Altima, Maxima and even the Sentra had a non CVT transmission. Perceived Quality (PQ) would be high and you could ride out this out. Hyundai/Kia and the Jeep brand will overtake you in 2020! Ghosn predicts you, Nissank will go bankrupt in 2-3 years. Let's see what you can do Uchida-san!

To those who are asking why Hiroto is not arrested with his 'crime'?

Wall Street Journal, September 9, 2019:

"Junichiro Hironaka, a lawyer for Mr. Ghosn in Japan, said last week that while Mr. Ghosn is accused of hiding compensation that he never received and is facing a lengthy prison sentence as a result, Mr. Saikawa did receive excess pay and isn’t facing criminal charges.

Mr. Hironaka called this “clear discrimination against foreigners.

This pisses me off to no end. "Confess" and "Bow"? Bull Shaving cream!

Posted in: Japanese gov't, prosecutors condemn Ghosn's remarks in Lebanon See in context

Reading statements from the prosecution side of this Ghosn case is akin to what the Democrats are doing do President Trump. Where are the FACTS and hiding possible EXCULPATORY evidence. I was so glad CG showed the is wasn't HE did it, it was the company, NISSAN. We saw Saikawa's signature and that is enough to show it wasn't Ghosn alone, it was the company. As for the under reporting of compensation, as Ghosn explained, it wasn't decided, had not been approved and not PAID. Total sham and shame on Nissan and the prosecution. The talk in MSM about merging Renault and Nissan...FALSE. Ghosn wanted to establish a holding company so Renault and Nissan have equal say....Nissan was pissed that the French government has double voting rights and Nissan ZERO. Plus, Nissan was opposed to a planned addition of FCA into the Alliance. Truth was said last night.

Posted in: New Nissan boss vows to restore trust after Ghosn scandal See in context

Restore trust? Goodluck with that. The treatment of Ghosn is now part of the Nissan brand. Also, Nissan was always an afterthought compared to Honda or Toyota. I just don't see this company rebuilding itself for a number of reasons. Especially when they tried to metaphorically tar and feather the person that helped turn them around.

I totally agree. Now when people talk about cars from Japan, Hoda, Toyota, Mazda...maybe Mitsubishi...but Nissan will ALWAYS have the stigma it will take years to overcome. Good Luck Uchida-san!

hey will continue to try to spin this as all of Ghosn's fault in the J-media.

True. Nissan has a very uninspiring lineup now and though sales of SUV's and Trucks, at least in US are up, Nissan's share is DOWN from 2019 Q3 numbers. Just wait until Jeep brand passes Nissan in sales. It will be a goal for ex-Infiniti/Nissan exec now Global president Jeep Christian Meunier.

How about a woman? Unfortunately he is part of a corrupt network in his company and should be in jail.

The 'highest' ranking woman Nissan exec would be Asako Hoshino, overseeing global marketing and sales and electric vehicle business. She chairs of the Management Committee for the Japan and Asia & Oceania regions. Why not?

Silly comments about 'Donny' are just dumb. If one pays attention to the situation here and sees how the US positioned itself to be even more less reliant on oil from this region. Japan should rethink their policy here if they still need this oil here.

I will not.

I'd love to see a poll of all the foreigners in Japan about whether they'd ever buy another Nissan. Not to mention any friends or family back home who we're telling to boycott the company. I dunno, maybe it's not the best PR for a manufacturer dependent on overseas markets.
