He is old, and connected, and will drag this out until he dies of natural causes. But on his Deathbed, his two victims will be there waiting for him

And her defense team will argue that she was not responsible because of her mental state at the time of the crime.

@ JJ - have you ever been to a Japanese High School? Do you expect them to have guards at the entrance and each door? Schools are big places with staff wondering around all day. Even if someone saw him they probably would greet him as if he worked there. And the locker rooms would only be occupied during PE times. Otherwise they are deserted.

He's right, suspended sentence because the case was reviewed by a judge who is understanding.

Posted in: 3 members of family die in apparent suicide in Hyogo See in context

apparently in a suicide incident, police said Wednesday.

So the police walked in, saw them all dead, and declared it a suicide. Did they even consider the possibility that it might have been in murder suicide? But I get it, if it's officially a group Suicide, the police don't have to do any work to find out who may have killed the others and then themselves

he didn’t know what to do when his father died

You didn't know what to do so cut him up and put him in the ceiling BS! But you knew enough to hide the body and continue collecting his pension for years though huh.

She must not have passed enough money back to the Yakuza, so they came and took it.

Posted in: Hawaii to allow Japanese visitors to bypass quarantine if they test negative for virus See in context

Travelers must take a COVID-19 test from an approved clinic or hospital in Japan within 72 hours of their departure.

What the article doesn't tell you is that the clinic you use to get your test must be on the approved list of the receiving airline in Hawaii not here in Japan. I just read a story on Google where a family from the US tested negative before they left to go to their timeshare in Hawaii. However, when they got there they were turned back because the place they used was not on the approved list there in Hawaii.

Posted in: 82-year-old man with dementia killed by 'stressed out’ wife See in context

I don't agree with murder as the solution, but I do have sympathy for that poor woman's situation prior to the murder. There are no easy answers for someone like her. If it were me, I might admit him to the hospital for something, sell the house, empty the bank accounts, max out the credit cards, move away, and change my name. Making him someone else's responsibility is better than choking him to death.

Posted in: Caregiver at nursing home arrested for using vacuum cleaner on resident’s hair See in context

Patient confidentiality is taken very seriously. I was later fired for warning another CNA about that same patient in an area where somebody overheard me. Though I suspect part of the reason was to satisfy the family.

Posted in: Caregiver at nursing home arrested for using vacuum cleaner on resident’s hair See in context

I spent years as a CNA after retiring from the military. I can tell you that the system is weighted very much against the caregivers. One of the residents I took care of told her family that she and I were having fun, to put it nicely. This poor woman was very overweight and bedridden and only time she moved was when we turned her to clean her up after she had soiled herself. Her family took the comment very seriously and I was interviewed by the police. Even after it was revealed that this particular patient had a history of making accusations, the family wanted to prosecute me because, I assumed, they couldn't admit to themselves that she had mental health issues on top of her other medical issues.

What kills me about this case is this poor little angel was writing them notes and promising to be better.

The mother may have been powerless to stop the abuse, but she wasn't powerless to pick up her kid and leave.

Posted in: 82-year-old man arrested after stomping on 10-year-old boy in Chiba park See in context

Several years ago outside the mall near Ebina Station, I witnessed an unprovoked attack by an old man (who had a canned highball) upon a male HS student who was engrossed in his phone. Ojisan threw his drink down and just started in on the kid, no warning, no provocation, and no words even. But the old man was getting the worst of it. The kid was holding him off with his hands but delivering a succession of many hard kicks to the side of the Man's legs. I'm sure he was black and blue later. But the old man didn't want to stop, until a group of high-school boys arrived and politely advised him that he should leave before the police came.

I would be willing to bet a lot of money that the victim was a low-ranking host in the club where the others worked. I witnessed the same sort of thing just outside my mansion in hachioji. Two guys were beating and ripping the clothes off of one guy who was not resisting at all.
