Health experts say ingesting a small amount of melamine poses no danger, but in larger doses, the chemical—used to make plastics and fertilizer—can cause kidney stones and lead to kidney failure. Infants are particularly vulnerable.

And, what exactly do they consider a large dose? Enough to give an infant kidney stones?

I'm confused! Is the story about the fact he was part-time NHK fee collector or is it about his robberies?

Posted in: Mother of murdered girl releases comments after funeral in Chiba See in context

This story is all well and good that the mother has enough courage to make a public address, BUT where is the joker responsible? This kid was nabbed/attacked in broad daylight mid-morning on a Sunday. Somebody must have seen something! I can only imagine how distraught the parents are.

There's a time and a place for everything and public trains are not the place for graffiti. In developed countries they supply areas for these bored teenagers to practice their art and keep it off the trains. Australia recently introduced sales restrictions on spray cans to curb some of the tagging. Find these twits and make them clean it off with a toothbrush.

This "shows her form" really isn't necessary. Say what it is: "A shot of Miwa Asao's butt & back shows what draws so many spectators to beach volleyball matches".

And, you worked that out all by yourself? Wow!

I think her form is a good fit!

What's a radio?

most of the radio stations in Japan do more talking than playing music, so what's the point!

Posted in: 3 lizard smugglers arrested in Australia See in context

What is the penalty for this type of crime in Australia? Will they get prison time?

$10,000 fine and/or 10 years in prison. Unfortunately, those two lizards would be worth more than the fine in Japan. I have seen many Australian lizards and snakes in an exotic pet shop in Higashi-Nakano.

Do the Australians have the courage to lock a Japanese in one of their prisons?

There are couple of Japanese doing time in Queensland for the same thing. They got three years.

What a bunch of witch hunters you are! Your assumptions make me feel sadder than the story. All based on biased speculation and very little information. Sad indeed!

You've gotta love the cultural aspects of, "helping my boyfriend make money." Way to go girl! Unfortunately, beyond the pure immorality of this offense the size of the market for this kind of video in Japan could have made this sicko a millionaire overnight! Nabbing this loser is only a token gesture. The real approach would be to attempt to educate the population (male and female) that, taking photos of naked children bad! Would that be a simple enough way for these morons to understand?

Posted in: 6-yr-old girl critical after hanging herself on overhead ladder in park See in context

Playing unsupervised at 6 years old is common and not such a big deal. My concern is, what kind of helmet was it? Was it one of those ridiculous workman's helmets they make the kids wear? If the strap was long enough to become caught in the bars it was obviously poorly designed. New bicycle helmets for kids have a catch that is designed to let go if there is too much weight put on them like, having a kid dangling by the strap. This is yet another tragic accident that should never of happened.

Posted in: Two teenage girls arrested for beating another girl at station in Yokohama See in context

Kids will be kids and Japanese teenagers are more bored and disillusioned than most, so this is quite a mild and inevitable incident and comes as no surprise it is blog related. It's also typically Japanese that nobody intervened, but it's understandable because of all the freaks off their leashes of late.

Japanese women will one day acquire the kick to the crotch technique.

That would take a lot of training and a damn good eye if you consider the size of the target area in Japanese men.

Kobayashi has so far given no motive for the attack.

Let's try a couple of potential motives:

He was angry at his mother for not washing his underwear.

He was angry with the bar staff for not putting the mandatory four inch head of foam on his beer.

The barmaid told him to p/off and stop being a drunken scumbag.

He is just another psychotic member of this society who preys on women.
