Hawkeye limiting birth rate, that sounds a bit extreme don't it (actually the Chinese have such a rule). Actually the amount of food available is not an issue (we are after all really talking about a select few prized species). In order to feed the world population enough food is being produced.. distribution of it to the needy is where things fall short.

talking2U why is this a problem of capitalism? Investors deserve what is coming to them, why? Because they are the ones who put up their money and risk losing all. They are ultimately the losers when what they invested in flops, and therefore they deserve to be compensated when it goes the other way. People who work for the "man" have the security of a pay check and the peace of mind of not having any of their own capital at risk.

I wonder if the author of this article has eaten anywhere other than fast food chains like MacDonalds. These places operate under small margins so its understandable for the folks that work there to pretty much have a manual of do's and don'ts.

Like somebody said previously the kid looks like side show bob, very funny looking. I'm not sure it doesn't represent "today's" look. I'm sure it'll be a fun movie for twelve year olds or people on this thread defending these folks (who obviously are twelve year olds themselves or are just as smart).

Posted in: Toyota's easy ride in Japan See in context
All of this for some reason reminds me of that one line in fight club..
A new car built by my company leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The rear differential locks up. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one.
Maybe Toyota took too long to figure out whether X was less than the cost of a recall ? =)

Yes with most recorders out here you can record to blueray in HD, however you are restricted in the number of times you can make a copy (believe 10 times in general).

Coming from the perspective of somebody that drives frequently, taxis are such a pain. They stop where ever the hell they want to when picking up/kicking out a passenger which means they frequently block traffic. All too often a friggen taxi cuts me so short I have to brake hard to avoid hitting their cheap ass crowns. The only thing worse are the pedestrians who like walking in the middle of the street and the dumb ass cyclists who ride against traffic.

Kind of amusing how this is becoming more of a London vs Tokyo conversation. For me I would pick Tokyo over London simply because food in the UK is horrible. As far as the expensive fruit goes, right there well always be overpriced produce. I don't believe most people buy that for daily consumption (the word omiyage comes to mind). I'm just happy with my 500 yen momo.. mmm pricey still yes. But just so worth it.

escape_artist, I take it you probably never took part in any sort of product development? Unfortunately most end users don't know what they want and won't be capable of coming up with what they want. The hard part is actually coming up with these innovative redesigns which normal people who don't have the necessary background won't be able to come up with. With that said I'm sure the product is test piloted with some old folks (err I mean the target user) before its actually put to production... Nissan can't be that dumb.

All the other sumo wrestler (gaijin or not) seem to have respect for the sport. One of Asa's many faults is he is unsportsman-like. This isn't football and this isn't the US (and yes I'm American). If you don't respect the local rules and standards of conduct you will of course become a target of criticism. Too bad he actually kicks butt, I so am looking forward to the day he goes on a loosing streak and is forced into retirement.
