When I had my Fuji Hiking Staff taken away from me and shackled...I was super scared because they told me it was a weapon. (Kendo). I would hate to be caught with a gun.

Posted in: USA go high-tech to tackle Tokyo Olympic challenges See in context

Some U.S. Paralympic athletes may have a chance to acclimate by training on U.S. military bases in Japan, Julie Dussiliere, USOPC chief of Paralympic sport, said.

Dussiliere said officials were working with the Department of Defense to try to provide "unique training opportunities" for up to five parasport NGBs to place athletes at bases.

She said such a move "clearly gives us a little bit of a home court advantage in terms of being on a U.S. base surrounded by other Americans with top-notch facilities and group support services."

I am an American and former Department of Defense Employee but I cannot get on the bases just to use the US Navy Federal Credit Union, but we are going to allow Olympiads to enter on and off and use the facilities?

Not fair.

Most government offices are full of boxes and stacks of paper. Get rid of the chop/inken/hanko and computerize everything and allow digital signatures. Then they can really let people work from home.

Posted in: Campaign encourages commuters to stand still in two lines on escalators See in context

Sounds like a distraction story to get everyone's minds off the fact that the Olympics are coming on fast, most stations in Tokyo are a nightmare to navigate let alone find escalators that go from bottom to top without hitting a floor with no escalator, and the lack of space for renting, because they killed AirBnB on purpose.

This is a distraction from real issues.

Trump is not a racist by the way. No racist would let their daughter convert to become a Jew nor marry one.

I am glad he is sitting back and not bombing Iran.

I am renting out two bedrooms. Will cook breakfast, get them to the train station and bbq for them if they like. 50 grand for two weeks. It is a steal. I will also do the wash.

So it will be an Olympic without viewers. Interesting. If you have tickets...put them on Yahoo Auction.

Posted in: Do you (or did you) worry about what your young children can view online? See in context

Buy lots of art supplies, and when you are home, put your cell phone in a draw. That is what I do.

You also have a love to cook. Be with your kids, not just overlooking their Safari and Google History.

Plus, there is a lot more fun things going on outside the home rather than inside. I have neighbors that never take their kids out. That is child abuse in my opinion.

I forgive everyone, especially the mentally ill.

What kind of fire escape situations were available in this building? Fire extinguishers? Rope ladders to toss from windows? Water extinguishers on the ceilings?

We need more information on this situation with the building codes.

I see so many stairwells in places like Shibuya blocked with restaurant boxes and chairs. It is the first thing I check when entering a building with restaurants.

Yamato-shi in Kanagawa has no info in English at all for anything, but they have cute little pamphlets with cute little Yamaton green potato looking mascots to show you what to do. Of course, gaijin with bad eyes cannot follow it.

"poor driving etiquette" My opinion on this is that they have a tendency to follow the rules and stop at stop signs rather than drive straight through them.

If this happened in Chicago alone, the US govt. would go bankrupt.

Nice idea on this buyback, but NZ is just a tiny little country with no influence on the world. Rather then spending money on buying back guns, I think they would be better spending money on shoring up buildings not strong enough for the never ending quakers.
