cedar pollen is everywhere in japan and since at least 20% of the population are allergic (and increasing every year) to it relocating is not an option.

Posted in: What are your worst fears if mass layoffs continue due to the economic recession? See in context

Look at 100-yen shops and UNIQLO. Seriously, have you been here for 10 years?

100 yen shops have been here for more than 10 years (well, I'll give you some credit, there are 99 yen shops too now, you're right, things have become cheaper) Uniqlo have been open for more than 10 years and are more expensive now than they were 5 years ago. what is your point?

I like RAJMUKAR's sober, detached assessment, too.

yeah, sober..detatched...give it a whirl in your own posts next time. try it, you might like it

if I lived anywhere other than Japan I'd say rioting. maybe Eikawa teachers will riot, sadly Ishihara would be pleased but I hope they find Boris Chang Luigi's house

Posted in: Iran angered over films 'The Wrestler' and '300' See in context

The Iranian flag scene was unneccessary and meaninglessly insulting. You cannot justify it by suggesting (correctly so, by the way) there are other countries that do the same kind of thing

it was perfectly necessary! flag waving and jingoistic nonsense is a significant element of american wrestling (and movies). The movie doesn't have to be supporting that crowd just by showing it. some wrestling fans are idiots who get off on thinking 2 fellas from different countries bashing each other up in a ring has any kind of larger nationalistic significance? yes, many probably do. Is showing that in a movie wrong? No, definately not

drinking? are they sure? they might want to check. he might be unemployed or stressed out at his boss. it's facts like these that can make or break a case and determine how much suspended time/how deep the apology bow should be before letting the scamp on his way

seen similar types several times. drunk and shouty on the train at 2 in the afternoon and had the misfortune once to catch one's attention. changed carriages but he followed and continued yelling abuse because I was with a Japanese girlfriend, that old chestnut that never fails to get the goat of drunken stupid old sods. I got off at the next stop

Rape fantasies can be entertained plenty with a willing partner, you just have to get the relationship going.

yes, well, ahem...

But the game probably should be banned in America because far too many Americans are too weak minded as to keep their fantasies and reality separate.

Posted in: Maki Horikita to play homeless girl in Fuji's new drama See in context

the homeless always get to marry rich people, it's a little known loophole they prefer not to advertise for fear of encouraging a homeless boom. I can see this show will take the art to a new-level of ultra realism that Mike Leigh or Ken Loach could only dream of. I can only hope this show will elevate nationwide consciousness into tackling this serious social issue.

he was paid a large amount of money to do a job and behave responsibly for those of us who pay his salary. he failed. he quit. that's it. what is wrong with criticising someone who makes a mistake? nothing at all

I have spoken to dozens of Japanese over the past week about Nakagawa and they all said how embarrassed they were. I have to agree with them. freedom to criticise is important.

Meat is considered a no-go amongst all Hindus maybe with the exception of chicken, fish or mutton

the only meat strictly forbidden by Hindu religion is beef. pork is ok. most hindus are vegetarian but it is not a 100% rule. the 'westerners' beach resort of Bali too, where not only the 'westerners' eat pork. as for why they chose katsu, read the caption again
