American cars offer nothing that I'd be interested in. Steering Wheels on the wrong side, oversized and expensive. They may be reliable now but they messed the bed so many times consumers are afraid of getting a lemon. Now if they could make a small sized pick up with right hand drive, I'd be in. Japanese makers have abandoned the market. Ford Courier from Aussie maybe.

Debris turns up pretty often on the other side of the base, pacific ocean. . The local fishing association has a big party on the American tax payers dime and everything goes back to normal. This will fund a different fishing association trip somewhere and things will get back to normal pretty soon.

Oh dear, enemies talking to each other. That might lead to peace. Can't have that, America and Japan need to control things on the peninsular or events which could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space time continuum, and destroy the entire universe could happen. How about Trump and Abe shut their pie holes and let the Koreans sort it out?

12 idiots do not represent the almost 40,000 good military personnel serving in Japan.

Yes they do. They wear the iuniform, swore an oath and they are most definitely representing the US Military here. Tell the Okinawans that the three Seamen that raped a 12 yr old eleentary school girl aren't an example of Americans. They will cut you off with more stories of civilian murders by SOFA sponsored "best and finest". Maybe if they had named the ship the "Nancy Reagan" they would have just said "no". The USAF personel I have met have all been great but most of my experiences with USN and USMC in Tokyo show them to be full of BS and generally rather stupid. YMMV

This is not news. Britain has deeply ingrained racism throughout society. Probably a hangover from the empire days when people of color were subjects to be exploited for the greater glory of Brittania.

How do we know she wanted to be put out of her misery

I think her husband of over 5 decades would know. Why do you think a man that loved a woman that long would suddenly want to kill her without a good reason? You ever cared for a person that has lost all independence and is depressed as there is no hope of getting better? If not, perhaps better not to ask silly questions.

Posted in: Nintendo announces its next mobile app release: Mario Kart Tour See in context

I'd like Nintendo to team up with Zwift and make a Tour De Mario cycling app that is 85% dependant on bike power and speed and 15% luck: dodging banana skins and Prius drivers an such. The Japan edition could have chinpiras in Mercs and BMWs trying to run cyclists off the road. Four seasons' Japan could have extreme weather events, random oyajis riding the wrong way and old ladies walking out on to the road with just a raised hand as protection. Throw in pedestrians looking at smart phones and school kids riding with umbrellas and I think the app would be a hit. Please do this Nintendo.

Korea and Japan are key US allies in the region. Both rely on and are counting on the US for protection. The US has every right to try and sort out the mess. Japan and Korea obviously aren't mature enough to let it go.

Posted in: China, S Korea criticize Japan over museum for disputed islands See in context

Which is abut 1971. PRC maps from the 1950s/1960s show the islands as being Japanese.

How about older Japanese maps which showed Hawaii as being Japanese? Maps are not the last say on territory.

When Japan annexed Okinawa did they care what earlier maps showed? Possession is 99% ownership.

Japan is also a comedian if it thinks China is going to be convinced by a museum or two. Japan could have had the moral high ground but having modern day leaders deny Ninjing's history puts it's credibility at zero.

Posted in: China, S Korea criticize Japan over museum for disputed islands See in context

The islands of Senkaku, are indigenous to the people of Japan.

Hard to claim that as they are uninhabited. Would you say the same about Hokkaido?

Actually how does indigenous apply to a collection of minerals?

Appeasement for a Dictatorship, led by Kim Jong-un, who is willing to stave his own population to support a nuclear/ballistic missile programme is indefensible, cowardly and gutless.

And how is that relevant to the disputed island in the sea of Japan with Korean people living on it? Does Kim Jong Un also claim the island known as Dokdo" or "Takeshima"?

Freezing the bananas until stiff then thawing in a room temperature kitchen raises the sugar content to that of over ripe overnight. Leave the skins on or off doesn't matter. If you want to know why follow the link ------

Using lemon juice instead of vinegar gives them a better fragrance. If you beat the egg whites separately and fold them in gently with the bananas you'll get MUCH fluffier pancakes. I'd tell you more but then I wouldn't be the only one making the best pancakes this side of the Pacific.

When you start an apology with an "if", it's not an apology. It is merely an intention to apologise if certain conditions are met. Piers Morgan is so desperate to appear relevant he forgot the next sentence. "Yes Mr President you should apologise and camera 1 is this one. The camera is all yours". Trump would be a stunned mullet.

All the videos posted on you tube of 9-11 suicide bombers or 3-11 tsunami victims. What is the difference? It's all there for entertainment. Personally I have never watch a second of this guy, never will but hey it's a free world.

Posted in: Abe to attend Pyeongchang Olympics; convey his stance on 'comfort women' issue to Moon See in context

Japan recently agreed to make a further apology and set up a new fund for the survivors.

And Mr Abe denied any abuse took place. Which one is it? You can punch someone in the nose, say sorry, pay them a c note for the blood on their shirt and then later say that nothing happened and blaming them for bringing the incident up again. That is Abe's stance. An apology followed by a denial is just another punch in the face.

From 2009

Japan's prime minister, Shinzo Abe, provoked fury yesterday by saying that the so-called "comfort women" were not coerced into becoming sexual slaves of the former Japanese Imperial Army.

If I were Korean I'd tell him to piddle off home.
