Is this the start of Japanese people starting to appreciate quality vehicles as opposed to whitegoods on wheels?

What logic would you give for increasing sales of lexus and Acura in other countries then?

To be turned on by Manga anime girls...

Naah man, That's art. That's what is the intention of artist. It doesn't just apply to manga girls. A lot of girls get turned on by manga boys too. Anyone get's turned on by them but getting obsessed over them is weird.

Jdrama is popular in Asia but is much less likely to sell in the West than Kdrama, so there is less synergy available.

Actually, Alice in borderland was the most watched non-English show in netflix last year.

SK tended to turn a blind eye to fansubbing and YT uploads

Actually, they got paid to upload them, they all even maintained English twitter pages right from the beginning regardless of whether they're popular or not while Japan didn't do that, right now, Jpop is also gaining popularity, in tik-tok and instagram reels, Jpop songs by Yoasobi etc are topping the charts and Yoasobi, king gnu, Kenshi Yonezu, eve, Zutomayo and others are gaining a Huge fanbase overseas.

I think BiSH would have gone down really well at the big Western music festivals, but the pandemic has pulled the rug from under that.

Yes, I agree too. At Coachella in 2019, Perfume was featured in the best acts of Coachella lists while blackpink was featured in none. J-music industry is finally opening it's eyes tho. Johnny and Associates opened a twitter page in English last month (they're nowhere close to their Korean counterparts in marketing but they're atleast starting to try). Sony Music Japan's "The First Take" is a Huge Hit and and gaining fans from overseas.

Posted in: Facial recognition tech fights coronavirus in Chinese city See in context

what scares the hell out of me is how many governments, including Japan's, are salivating at acquiring this tech and using it.

Actually, Japan actually has this tech already. NEC is world leader in this. Japan isn't using it because it respects Privacy of it's citizens.

am certainly no expert nor do I pretend to be. I can only go by what those who study this say. The Harvard study referenced below is "guesstimating" 2 to 8 weeks

Over 48% of people over 65 have been fully vaccinated and they accounted to 97% of covid deaths in Japan.

Only moderna, we've still got around 55 million pfizer doses left, no signs of slow down in corporate inoculations.

While the management of Nissan might be at fault, It'd would be foolish to not acknowledge how stupid Ghosn's strategy was. He's a brilliant guy who did great in 90's and 2000's but after that, he messed up. Especially after the global financial crisis. He's a human after all.

It's better if the people posting nonsense in the comment section here read this article to know how exactly Ghosn destroyed Nissan. Especially you @bokuda.

I'm sure you must have already read this but seems like you're having fun dissing Nissan's management just because it's based in Japan.

This sounds like a scheme to sell off foods from the Fukushima area that the Japanese don't want to buy, even at discounted prices.

I prefer buying food from fukushima given the rigorous testing and quality check the food from fukushima goes through, not to mention that they taste incredible.

If Japan conforms to the international standards of accounting and quality-testing, then 90% of Japanese firms will cease to exist.

Look at this CCP bot lol. Japan is a country where Quality standards are so high that these kind of lapses are a HUGE news. Actually, if this was any other country, Nobody would have cared about something like this. Wanna hear examples?

The same government said yesterday a shortage of Moderna vaccines in Japan would happen if were to resume allowing applications for the company inoculation program that it suspended due to supply bottlenecks.

Yeah, that makes sense. One thing is clear: urgency and the health and safety of people in Japan is not the govt's top priority.

@JeffLee well, the applications have been suspended after allocating 56 million doses for companies. The inoculations allotted will continue till the end of August. So, the inoculation isn't slowing down anytime soon. 1.66 million doses given yesterday.
