“Every time researchers have looked into it rigorously, it doesn’t pan out,”

That's because it's bunkum.

But some experts say its usefulness cannot be ruled out in all cases.

You can't be an expert in something that isn't real.

But a strong president that is not politically correct. The PC bull has gone way too far

So definitely not Dennis Haysbert in "24".

I imagine it's not much fun to be a bigot in a society that is changing for the better and I'm sure this is made even more painful by the inevitable loss of one's racial majority status.

Poor guys.

So how does the driver get in? I realise it might be tight or even one side blocked slightly,

Well, I get in on the driver's side where there is barely enough room to squeeze in. If you want to get in on the passenger side, you'll wait until I pull out because there is literally only a few inches of clearance there.

And if you want to strap a toddler into the seat behind me, you'll also be waiting because there just isn't enough room to open the door wide enough to do so.

Don't act like what theeastisred describes is unheard of here. Everyone "squeezing in" isn't always an option.

This raises the question: is there such a thing as a 17-year-old non-teen?

1). Snow may have clogged the car's exhaust muffler? That cannot happen

What? Yes, snow can most certainly block your tailpipe. For example, it happened to a 19-year-old in Ohibiro, Japan yesterday.

2) leading to a sudden lack of oxygen in the vehicle. That will not happen either.

What the heck do you think happens when a car is flooded with carbon monoxide? The gas displaces the oxygen in the vehicle and then displaces the oxygen in your blood. Then you die.

I hope for your sake you don't ever move somewhere that gets a lot of snow.

Ogata and Egami were reportedly indicted last year for tying the daughter to a bed with rope, punching her in the face and burning her tongue with a lit cigarette.

How can a child be returned to parents who were arrested for tying her up, punching, and burning her, let alone four times in total before this most recent abuse?

Is something missing from this story? How can this be true?

Posted in: Scientists glimpse Einstein's gravitational waves See in context

earth is a globe spinning at 1000mph- no wait, Neil Grass Tyson says that it is wider at the equator, no wait, he now says it is pear shaped.

The term you're looking for is "oblate spheroid".

There is not one single true photo of earth. All the pictures you see are computer generated by stitching many photos together or even an artist's rendering. The reason there is no actual photo is because you can't get high enough in space to take one.

I'm not sure what this has to do with the existence of gravity (or have you moved into flat-earther territory?) but this is patently false. There are plenty of them. Here are several: http://mentalfloss.com/article/30016/blue-marble-views-earth-far-away

I'm mildly interested in more of this so-called "logic" that leads one to the position that gravity doesn't exist.

If gravity doesn't exist, how did we use the Newtonian law of gravitation to mathematically predict the existence of Neptune before its discovery? How do stars form? How are comets pulled into the sun when they are not on a direct trajectory but come close? How does "believing in your eyes and logic" explain these things?

Furthermore, here's a bit of related trivia, they recently changed the law so that, if you hit a kid under the age of seven their parents can be charged. Again, treating the symptoms and not the cause!

That sounds like attempting to treat one of the causes (parents not being mindful of small children who are liable to dart into traffic) but it should probably be under six.

This must be one of the most foolish things I've ever read on this site. I don't even know where to begin. Newton is rolling in his grave.

I was certain they they were joking but I'm less sure, seeing that they said this on the preliminary news item last month:

Gravity is only a theory. It is supposed to hold the massive oceans on a ball without dripping off.

If serious, 25years obviously doesn't know what "theory" means in the context of science.

Kichijoji is often where the 1st store opens like Cinnabon, Hara Donuts, etc initially long queues and the stores often close after 6-8 months.

Rest assured, Shake Shack won't be closing anytime soon.

I am not sure if it will fade with the lines. Eggs and Things down in Shonan still has huge lines

I haven't seen an Eggs 'n Things where this isn't still the case.

I would love to find a medium rare 100% nice size cheeseburger in Japan

That's just asking to get sick. Rare steak is one thing, but with an undercooked burger, potential pathogens have been ground into the center of it.

U.S. government is going to tax us, then they need to create a voting district, with representatives, exclusively for the overseas expat community so that our voices will be listened to.

As you've already acknowledged, you have representation in the state you hail from (and you can appeal to your representatives regarding your taxation situation).

Before an ex-pat "voting district" is ever considered, I'd just like to see all U.S. citizens get the same representation you already enjoy. See: Guam, Puerto Rico, and Washington, D.C.

By entering the U.S. with more than $10,000 in negotiable monetary instruments you don't have a legal claim to followed by extradition.
