Posted in: Japanese parents urged to set boundaries on kids' internet usage See in context

Parents can use Google parental controls to limit their kids screen time and set a time limit together with an on and lock time. This way you give them the opportunity to use their digital device without worrying they spend too much time or accessing sites or downloading apps you'd prefer them not to. Problem solved

Why is she looking for the spotlight with this essay again? Guess money talks

Posted in: Japan may let pharmacists administer COVID-19 vaccines See in context

They started giving out the vaccines 3 months ago and only now they're considering the pharmacists to inoculate the nation? So another meeting for the rest of the month and finally come to the conclusion that they'll have do that in order to speed up the inoculation process and start in July? What are they waiting for? It's only been 15 months since we've been in this mess

So what happened to no foreign spectators? Different rules for politicians? And will Suga have to download Cocoa and Skype too on arrival and self isolate for 2 weeks? I remember they said no exception, even for Japanese.

Posted in: Hanyu wins short program after Chen falls at World Figure Skating Championships See in context

One of the best Japanese skaters of all time, no question. But why do they always mention that they are fluent in English? He's just average at best. Nothing wrong with that but it's kinda annoying when they use the word fluent every time someone is able to string a couple of words together and manages to create a sentence the level of a first grader. If that's required in Japan to be named fluent they gotta long way to go

Although I think it's a good move overall, as this should be standard in all offices and schools I just can't believe that people can't afford 200 yen on sanitary napkins while buying a basket or cart full of groceries

Posted in: 'Everything evaporated' - Olympic overseas spectator ban hits Japan tourism See in context

Some people should show some more compassion. Yes they spent money and updated/upgraded their business. They didn't do it only for the Olympics and expect to recoup the investment in a few weeks but it would have helped to speed up the return on investments. People who say every business should adapt or sink don't know how cutthroat some businesses are especially the service business. Throw in that many business owners are in their 50s or 60s, they can not adapt to changes as quickly as people in their 20s and 30s.

Compassion people compassion. Some day it might happen to you

So a month into it and fewer than 0.5 percent of the population have been jabbed. We'll be lucky to reach 50 percent by the end of 2021! So another year of no international travels and not being able to see family and friends back home. What a bummer!

Isn't this something that these companies could have anticipated on like in December? Why wait for the government to request and then start taking preparations? By the time they have spent the money on building a new assembly line they'll get it from the Chinese who can expand in a matter of weeks

Feel sorry for the staff and passengers who lost their money. Have used them twice, ok budget airline and dirt cheap.

Having said that, less than a week ago I got an email from them notifying me that my points were about to expire so I should book a flight before I lose my points, what was that? Pretty sneaky way to squeeze out some money before declaring bankruptcy!

Posted in: Japan's top court backs lower pay for nonregular employees See in context

If companies say they don't have the money to pay contract workers equal pay why not cut the bonuses of regular workers by let's say 25 percent and at least pay them some kind of bonus. The regular workers would still rake in a minimum of 500.000 yen and the contract workers would be somehow pleased and rewarded for the work they do

Posted in: Lotte Marines report 11 new coronavirus cases among players, staff See in context

Just irresponsible behaviour on Marines side for deciding to play tonight's game regardless the well known 2 week quarantine. If they don't give a darn about the rules how can you expect the average Tanaka to follow the guidelines?

If this game results in more infections they will do the usual bow and promise to be stricter in their policies to prevent a recurrence and it will all be forgotten

What's wrong with Japanese politicians? Can't he just visit the place and keep his mouth shut? Why do they always have to do/say stupid things and later apologize for it? This weekend the newspapers in Korea and China will be full of it and on Monday he will tweet an apology. They gotta learn to keep their mouth shut. Nobody cares about what you do in your private time

Posted in: Q&A: Japan's coronavirus-related travel restrictions See in context

I understand that they have these rules to limit or control the number of tourists but they are very discriminatory to residents and especially PR as they have no place to go if they test positive, after all they reside in Japan, have health insurance in Japan and in many cases have family or spouses who are Japanese. When they get sent back to a foreign country or even their native country one wonders who will pay their hospital bills as they have no coverage

You can always visit an immigration office to hear the ins and outs before you leave the country. To be honest I can't see on what grounds they can sent you back if you're a PR with health insurance. Besides the fact that no airline will allow you to board a plane if they know you're infected
