Posted in: Car carrying five 13-year-old students crashes, killing one in Okayama See in context

Why thumb down DNA ?

He said exactly what I was thinking - what kind of parents let their 13 year old kids stay out all night? ?

If we have the the wrong idea then i'm sorry but it looks like 5 13-year old kids went joyriding at 5 o'clock in the morning

Posted in: Tokyo gov't passes strict anti-smoking laws See in context

The underlying fact is that times are changing, and some people here don't like that -

I'm sorry if you don't like it but when we realize that doing this will save lives (at the cost of asking smokers to move to another room), it has to be done ..

Posted in: Tokyo gov't passes strict anti-smoking laws See in context

Whenever there's a thread about smoking, I enjoy reading your comments Schop!

I welcome this move but i hope the 'smoking room' is completely sealed off from the eating area - i would take my kids to somewhere like that.

Its good that koike-san is at the wheel on this issue - women care more about child health which is probably related to why women don't like secondhand smoke

If the goal here was to get more people voting then they need a rethink.

It's almost impossible to get that age bracket to vote, and on top of that they're japanese so ...

Posted in: G7 leaders must not be intimidated by Trump, say Macron and Trudeau See in context

Pains me to say, but the tariff situation is a short-term win-win for Trump - if the g6 buckle, he'll look like the negotiator he promised he would be, and if they go against him then he'll play the victim card, which will go down well with his base -

Posted in: Mother backing car out of garage hits and kills 2-year-old son See in context

I know exactly what you mean gaijinpapa -

It's scary how many times I see kids out of their seats in moving cars -

There was a case a while back when two kids were killed because they had their heads out the sunroof as their mum went under a low bridge...

It isn't hard to make them buckle up - sure, they'll complain about it at first, but if you make it rule then it'll be the first thing they do when they get in the car.

Posted in: Mother backing car out of garage hits and kills 2-year-old son See in context

This is really sad news.

Although it is negligence, there's no punishment worse than the guilt and sorrow this mother must feel now.

Seriously though, this happens too many times in japan

Posted in: Chinese air force lands bombers on South China Sea island See in context

There was never really any doubt about what china would do once it got a foothold on that area.

What they have done is illegal of course, but in china's defense, any country would do the same thing if they were faced with american bases on all sides

Posted in: Gunman opens fire in Texas high school, killing 10 people See in context

Another day, another shooting.

Things will change one day, maybe not soon but it will definitely happen - you know what republicans are like - against abortion until they suddenly impregnate the secretary. Anti gay marriage until their own kids turn out to be gay.

When gun violence becomes personal for republicans and they start to experience loss, things will change. And i will be laughing at silly comments like ''here come the liberals...''
