On a hike in the Yosemite Sierras a few years ago a black bear stole all my food but he left me a package of seaweed and that saved me from starvation on the 20 mile hike back to my car.

Old people should be screened for disabilities when they buy or want to use guns.

Two possibilities:

The sanctions are unbearable or Kim has had a change of heart. Probably Kim has had a change of heart because the sanctions are unbearable. Conclusion: Kim will have another change of heart when the sanctions are lifted. This is human nature and the rest of the world is behaving the same way regarding the environment -- there's no stopping human greed, population growth, and the lust for power.

Discrimination based on age, gender, or ethnicity is wrong but testing for competency is a responsible duty of the government.

It is irresponsible, short sighted, and delusional to be encouraged by these extremes in weather to deny climate change.

If Japan can make A-bombs as well as she can make automobiles then China better do something quickly about that puppet state she created because the status quo is now intolerable. China will be 100% responsible for the coming arms race in the Western Pacific and then she will really have something to worry about.

Nuclear power is scary but it is becoming more obvious every day that big oil has no future. The 1800 meters of atmosphere we depend upon for our breath can't absorb much more of that filthy stuff. Not a pleasant choice.

Douglas MacArthur would have solved this problem way back in 1951 but Harry Truman, who caused this nightmare in the first place, fired him. North Korea is a creation of China.

Marijuana, tobacco & alcohol -- how much better our world would be if they were gone. God only knows the misery they have caused the human family. Winston Churchill said, in regard to alcohol, "I got more out of it than it got out of me." Hardly anyone is that fortunate.

It's scary to think of what Duterte would do here in America, where 24.6 million (9.4%) of the population uses illegal drugs. California's Governor Brown said he would not sign a bill legalizing marijuana because he "didn't want to govern a State full of dummies" so the choice seems to be Duterte or dummies.

They look so peaceful, let them alone -- makes me want to take a nap too.

I think shonanbb's comment above is hilarious and appropriate. North Korea is so outrageous that the best reaction is just to laugh - if you can. If you are a direct victim of their madness then just pray and forgive them because they don't know what they are doing.

Vocal fry and up-speak (high rise terminal) are annoying.

What is is happening now in Europe is an invasion and if history is any guide ("reconquista") they will eventually expel these Muslim foreigners. The followers of Mohammed have always offered "infidels" (that's everyone but them) three choices -- conversion, the sword, or tribute ("my way or the highway.") They worship a violent, immoral man who had 16 wives (plus many concubines), the youngest of whom (Ayesha) was 9 years old. Europe is setting up future generations for profound cultural shock and horrific violence. The USA, by killing Saddam Hussein and destabilizing Bashar Al-Assad, is directly responsible for the current Middle East violence. Japan will be an island of tranquility in a future world of chaos.

President Harry Truman was a haberdasher. He was not an educated man. He made the decision to drop THE BOMB during the Potsdam conference, responding to a note that said it was "ready" by spontaneously telling the note bearer to "use it." Worse yet, he delegated the authority to continue using this horrific weapon to the generals. Not only was he incapable of reflective thinking, but he was also very temperamental and violent -- as we see from his violent letter to a Washington Post reporter's panning of his daughter's singing abilities. According to Justice William O. Douglas, FDR would not have used this weapon. We offered to drop A-BOMBS in Viet-Nam for the French but they refused, and, of course, Barry Goldwater campaigned on the promise of using nuclear weapons in Viet-Nam. Violence is as American as apple pie.

Thanks to Douglas MacArthur, who threatened to "arrest them," the Russians were kept out of all of Japan after WWII.

We should give them a country all to and for themselves, no humans allowed.

How scary that one person can make life so miserable for so many others. Is this a preview of the future when the Tsunami of Climate Change arrives? We need to make some radically unpopular changes now before it is too late and they are forced upon us. Here are a few of the easier changes we need to make now before it gets really hard: all pets illegal, all air traffic illegal, cars must get 50 MPG, add $1.00 environmental tax to each gallon of gasoline, all vegetarian diet --- no more meat eating, and of course stop population growth. I know this sounds ridiculous and impossible but the other choice is do nothing and become like North Korea. BTW, I practice most of those changes mentioned above and if you don't then we need to find another planet for you to live on because this one will be uninhabitable soon.
