Bags should at least be your wage if you self checkout. You saved them 15 minutes of wages, whatever that is in Japan courtesy clerk wages. Sounds chincy.

Iran has played the US like a drum since the 70s. Trump is the weakest president in 100 years, that he even said this out loud proves that he's a coward.

So legalized underage sex slavery for a wage, that the government collected instead. Everyone hear that?

Posted in: Do you think restaurant menus should list the calorie content for each item? See in context

MocheakeFeb. 4 12:59 pm JST

Calories have been listed on foods in grocery stores for decades and people are still getting fatter and fatter. No real point.

I mean, stupid people. But the rest of us care.

Posted in: Do you think restaurant menus should list the calorie content for each item? See in context

You can only ever offer an estimation really of calories or possible allergens as a kitchen contains the components to make any number of things, and employees may come in with personal lunches or after having touched things.

I think they should offer a likely caloric range and if you can't do that because you have no idea what's in your food, nobody else should be eating it either. I can tell you the calories of something I make personally fairly easily, why can't you figure out the calories of something you make 20-50 times a day? Surely you use a standard amount of ingredients to control costs already? And if you're afraid to post them, it's because you're poisoning your customers or making them fat.

Don't want to see calories? Don't look. Or maybe you're in need of that information subconsciously.

Have a toxic food-borne allergy? I'm sorry but you should probably just make your own food. Putting your personal safety on the backs of wage slaves and small business owners catering to a majority is your own risk.

And now literally everything will be 25-50% more expensive without replacements. This is why tariffs are stupid unless you build local industry first. And even then they are probably still stupid.

Posted in: Do you think democracy is the best form of government? See in context

It's the best of all the bad options we've tried so far. We should nominate smart people who don't want power to be in charge though. The more people want power, the less capable of using it for the good of society they seem to be. Just look at Trump in particular. Why did he want power? He was already rich, had a family, was - to some degree - respected among his peers. But there is never enough power for some people. Those are the people who should be denied power. He isn't doing anything for the country, he's only doing things for himself, and he's doing it in a way (executive order, loading the courts, etc) that encourages dictatorship tendencies.

On X you can see that the "shock" was gone days ago. Prices have already dropped.

On X you can find anything you want to find for conclusion shopping, because it's all lies.

People are fine eating cheap Ramen, all the bells and whistles that make it fancy are too expensive for a lot of people. They can get a 6 pack of beer for the difference in price.

Yeah that's all they do here. There's 3 or 4 of them and I don't know if they are sock puppets or it's just

that nobody will listen to trumpies outside their own echo chambers on american media anymore.

SALT WATER CORRODES PIPES AND IF YOU USE IT TO PUT OUT FIRES IT LEAVES AN ECOLOGICAL DISASTER. Just to put it clearly for slow readers in all caps like Trump talks. Plus you're missing the part where the fire swept through so fast that it was literally burning buildings faster than they could hook a fire hose up.

continues to erroneously cast the U.S. trade deficit

Pls fact check yourself - you can disagree with this "casting", but it is not something you can declare an "error". A trade deficit with a region can be interpreted as a subsidy.

Only if you have a woefully inaccurate and deliberately uninformed view of economic matters. Do you subsidize Wallmart when you get a 50 pack of cookies from there? It's called a purchase. Canada is a large provider of goods and services but they don't require as much stuff in return from the US, because get this: There's less people there.

Posted in: Why are there so many cults in Japan? See in context

TL/DR: People feel lost and afraid and they cling to anyone who can make up something to live for. E.G. how Trump won twice. Charlatans rule the world because good people are too busy being useful to other people to step up and take power.

Posted in: Japan urges U.S. military to make changes to stop rapes in Okinawa See in context

Basically in response to this whole thread:

A. The base is there for the joint defense of Japan and surrounding areas. If you don't know why, move to china. The US could leave, but it's providing a deterrence that Japan frankly just can't do.

B. Nobody is letting anyone get away with anything, they just can't let military personnel be put in local prisons because they will immediately blab military secrets.

C. The rapist will be sent back to the US, dishonorably discharged, be financially ruined and tarred for life, and spend many years in jail.

D. He'll probably then go on to work for the Trump admin? Seems to be their employment pipeline.
