I would like to know who turned him in. Was it the tourists or undercover cops? All i get from the article is the most of the panda is real and the guy was trying to sell it.

Posted in: 68-year-old woman arrested for attempted murder of 74-year-old husband See in context

This story actually made me teary.

My husband is 12 years older than me. I remember him asking me if I would stick around when he got old and if he was incapacitated. I said ''of course''! I asked him why he asked me such strange questions and he told me his first wife said that if he were to get too sick ,she would stick him in an old age home.

I just can't imagine hurting my husband for any reason. My parents, who are both in 80 years old have been to hell and back including my father's battle with prostate cancer. Seeing my mom care for my dad and doting on him , really taught me what it was to be a good wife.

In Michiyo's case, perhaps she didn't have the support or coping skills to deal with her sick husband. It's sad that she felt that killing her husband was her way out. How desperate must she have felt that she would rather face life behind bars than deal with him.

I hope ,that in the event that my husband (heaven forbid), that I will be able to care for him properly and have him with me until the end.

I wonder if prisoners deal with child killers here like they do in the U.S.? Or are they isolated from the rest of the population?

I would of taken that little baby in a heart beat. Poor little baby only got 11 days on this Earth. RIP little angel.

Seesaw, rape is NOT about how beautiful or ugly a woman is. It's about power and control. Are you seriosu?

I am hoping this is not the case with this poor woman. RIP and condolences to her family.

I love cooking, so I will be making Christmas dinner old school. I'm Puerto Rican and we usually have pernil (roasted pork) for the holidays, but I am doing turkey this year because hubby has never had it.

So KFC will NOT be at our dinner table thankyouverymuch.

Posted in: Love without words See in context

When my husband and I are out together, we are always holding hands and he always tries to ''sneak'' a kiss to me. He looks around to see if anyone is looking to give me a quick kiss . It's like we're in high school and we don't want the gown ups to see. It makes me smile.

I find it so awesome, because has some ''Japanese shyness '' to him.

As some posters have pointed out, I feel sad when I see some couples with no passion. Or they are both playing with their ketais. Mind. Boggled.

Samantha, I really hope your friend can get out of the situation before it's too late. My heart goes out to her and her kids.

I understand what she is feeling. I was a victim of abuse myself. I was at a point where I felt so worthless that I began to believe my abuser's words. You feel so low , that you feel you deserve to get hit.

I hope she can recover her personal power and be able to have the courage to leave for the sake of her kids.

I have lived in some parts of Japan and found levels of generosity different. I'm not trying to bash Tokyo, but outside of here ,I have found more kindness and generosity. Even in Osaka, of all places.

''And in the end: The love you take, is equal to the love you make!''

I remembered being worried about introducing my Japanese husband to my Puerto Rican family. I had told him that if he heard my daddy talk really loud, it didn't mean he was mad. He's just loud LOL. And of course my parents adore him.

We make each other laugh everyday. My favorite thing with him is when we ride the escalator together and since he is way taller than me, it is the only time we're almost the same height. He looks around to see if anyone is looking and kisses me. It's so cute and makes me swoon :)

As many posters have said, make each laugh everyday. Also before you part tell each other ''I love you'' and never go to bed mad.

Posted in: Kindergarten bus driver held over girl's death See in context

Elbudha, that story you wrote is so horrific, that it made me sick to my stomach. I hope that mother is haunted by that every day of her life.

On Topic: Seriously, how much work is it to hold your kid's hand or carry her for a quick minute to meet your other child on the bus. Or carry her with you. I'm sorry ,but I am dead set on this.

There are no such things as shortcuts in parenting.

Posted in: Kindergarten bus driver held over girl's death See in context

This story reminds of why sometimes, when I see little itty bitty kids walking alone while mom is walking ahead, I want to throttle the moms.

Seriously, how could this have happened? Why wasn't mom holding her daughter's hand? I don't care if I get flamed, but she is responsible as much as the driver. Driver assumed mom was doing her job. How was he to know there is a baby UNDER the bus? SMH!

RIP little one.

I've learned to handle the whole staring thing, but my hubby hates it. I told him ''Hmm you're the 185 cm tall Japanese guy and I'm the 152 cm foreigner gal. Ya think they're not gonna stare LOL!

I just said to him that we're just so fabulous they can't help but stare j/k. Or I give them a reason to stare like give my hubby a full smack on the lips GASP!!

Yesterday, my husband and I did volunteer work at a children's home in Tokyo. We got to play with the 3 to 5 year old age group. the kids were so cute, adorable, and very loving. I wish I could of taken them all home!

I also know that they're there because of some sort of abuse or abandonment. My worries were that they get returned to the same abusive environment. And to see this story just breaks my heart. Poor little angel is dead because mama can't handle life.

RIP little angel.

Posted in: Police continue search for baby girl feared abducted from car in Oita See in context

When my kids were little, I never, ever left my kids in the car alone, not even for a second! Put them on the stroller and go. Where I went, they went. I don't understand why anyone would defend the mom in this. Doesn't matter if people think Japan is safe or not, you just don't leave your kid in a car alone period.!

I do wonder why didn't she just carry her child with her into the store? Maybe she thought it was too much trouble to tote her around or get the stroller out to put her in it.

Sorry, but she should of known better.

Posted in: Gaijin -- just a word or racial epithet with sinister implications? See in context

This article reminded me of my first time in Japan and not knowing what the word meant. I was eating at a restaurant with a Japanese friend, when suddenly this little boy (about 5 years old) in the next booth, looked and pointed at me and said ''gaijin''! But his parents looked so embarrassed and told him to hush and said sorry to me. My Japanese friend told me it meant ''foreigner'' but not a nice way to say it. Which then made me wonder what were the kid's parents teaching him at home?
