Posted in: U.S. House plan boosts taxes on rich to 20-year high See in context

Katsu, I knew several, when the their 4% salary raise would have resulted in a 5% income tax raise (31% to 36%). Eventually, they figured on a percentage raise that did not result in going up a tax bracket.

They should have just given more money to their IRA, 401k, or other QRP in order to stay in the same bracket. But they didnt because they are not real.

So in a way, Malaysia is just like every other country.

Thats right BC! Its not well known, but in some states in the US, you can be prosecuted for converting out of Christianity.

But this will never make the news...

I am not usually very vocal in these forums. Where are the voices from outside the US??? Do you guys know how overbearing you were/are and and how much the world couldn't stand you? Do you even care? Do you even know there is a world outside? You guys are at the frontiers because you are Americans living overseas. You actually have a passport. Very rare. You are just starting to repair your status because people are so tired of being tired of you. And to the point of this story, that's another 8 years of crazy just waiting to happen if you guys don't start to expand your horizons a bit. So do us all a favor. Please.

Hey, belachan! Love it or leave it!

Moderator: Back on topic please.

How much money, resources and pollution was created on this silly Dukes of Hazard style chase. The sheriffs must feel like real idiots.

Since the point of the new sanctions is to clamp down on North Koreas arms trade, Id say the sheriffs are feeling pretty good. In all like likelihood, the Norks are out some money and the Burmese Junta is out some weapons. Also no one got hurt and Kim now knows we`re not playing. So, yeah, just like you said, failure.

Posted in: Japanese urged to take pride in their safe society See in context

A few years back, when my mates and I were drinking in Osaka way past our bedtime, I got the notion to heave a bicycle at a garbage truck. I was shocked at the garbage truck driver`s reaction as he got out of the truck and shouted at me and then slapped the taste out of my mouth. Good thing my mates held me back or he woulda been sorry.

So, in closing. Japan - a safe country? I don`t think so.

Give me 5 minutes with that drone, I'd smash it with a bat.

I bet the Taliban wish they had thought of that.

“Our revolution is winning victory after victory because the bloodline” of the country’s ideology of “juche” “self-reliance” has been succeeded through generations, Kim was quoted as saying last month.

If they are so "self-reliant", shouldnt Kim be passing out North Korean-made luxury cars and wine?

Posted in: Iran accuses U.S. of meddling after disputed vote See in context

some14some, Not knowing how much Iran meddled in the affairs of its neighbor during the US meddling in Iraq, I can't quite grasp how much meddling that would be.

Maybe just a little more meddling than they did in Israels Lebanon War and a little less than theyve been doing in Iraq.

I think Adam Sandler said it best in one of his comic routines, "You meddle with me and you get meddled with"
