@Strangerland

Start looking in random cars stopped in traffic, you'll soon see it.

The worst one I saw was a lady who had a baby strapped to her chest while driving. One minor bump that set off her airbag would have had catastrophic consequences.

@smithinjapan

Right. It’s one of the great hypocrisies of Japan that a country which has such a safety first, err on the side of caution attitude to most things seems to have such a laissez faire attitude towards child seat belts and baby seats.

It amazes me that most Japanese parents don’t seem to give this a single thought.

You see children unsecured in cars, jumping up and down in the front seats every day.

@Oldman_13

“The weapon of choice is irrelevant.”

I think it is very relevant in this case. I sincerely doubt the assailant would have been able to kill 33 grown adults in a 3-story building with knives in the same ease he did with gasoline and fire

Kerosene doesn’t ignite the way gasoline does. I don’t think you can set kerosine alight with a lighter.

Gas stations shouldn’t sell jerry cans of gasoline for people to take away. I believe this practice is banned in my home country, the UK.

Look at what can be done with them in the wrong hands.

@Ganbare Japan, you know the lead singer of KA-TUN got arrested for possession of a small amount of marijuana right? How can you live with a person who is a fan of such a criminal? The kind of criminal who threatens innocent Japanese people. You're going to have to consider divorce.

@Ascissor. It’s still early mate....

I’ll rebute it in advance by saying that in the West, these sex abuse cases aren’t swept under the carpet and ignored because it’s embarrassing, might upset someone and we like the professional work of the sex case in question.

In my opinion, the system here; with the police having the power to question suspects for up to 23 days without their legal counsel being present and the amount of confessions that system brings makes having the death penalty an extremely dangerous thing. A very, very concerning thing.

"If that “mother” the other day who helped her boyfriend murder her daughter only got a suspended sentence I cant wait to see how the judge rules on Ogawa."

Exactly, going by that as example; Ogawa will be getting a two weeks all-inclusive holiday in Okinawa as his punishment.

“What is Ogawa's first name?”

He’s like a Brazilian footballer, just known as Ogawa.

“Disgusting, 10 years in prison”

Youre joking, right? Have you seen the sentencing in Japanese courts? Some murderers don’t even get ten years in prison.

Yes, Gambare

You love alcohol and encourage everyone to become a heavy drinker, I know.

Probably not very good medical advice, however.

And, nothing bad ever happens due to alcohol consumption. No drink driving deaths, no public disorder, no domestic violence.....

To be fair too, I don’t think taking cocaine makes anyone a better person or improves their life.

@nandakandamanda,

The Japanese guy denied all knowledge last week, according to the police.

It was about a week later the Kiwi guy got busted.

One week of contestant “interrogation” with no lawyer, shouting in his face and whatever else the cops can do behind closed doors, could easily have led to him starting to talk.

Yeah, the police here like nice, easy small time busts.

@Norman, they obviously busted the Kiwi guy because the Japanese player (his team mate) ratted him out.

Abandoning a body is a charge the police use while they gather evidence to charge a suspect with murder.

I’d like to speculate here.....

The New Zealand guy got busted with a little bag he had forgotten about or he foolishly thought that “team mates stick together and don’t dob each other in”, not realising that this value might apply in New Zealand but not Japan.

Actually, that's not right. He was arrested yesterday, it says.

You're correct, what an idiot for not dumping it when his team mate got nabbed.
