So 0.35% died and the world death toll was 0.09%, granted that the majority of people who died were probably old, a investigation is not warranted

Assuming that world death toll number is correct, that's an extremely large number of people. Also, while deaths were and surely still are more elderly than other age groups, we now know that the virus over time can severely affect people of all ages, including children, so I don't really understand the point about the majority being old. However, I don't really have any strong feelings about whether an investigation into this one particular incident at this point is necessary. I hoped the pandemic would put an end to cruise ships overall for both health and environmental reasons but I know that is wishful thinking...

RIP. Meteor Garden was one of the first Asian dramas I watched. I'm not suggesting it was definitely the case with her, since she did seem to have prior health issues as another commenter mentioned, but just a reminder that there is evidence peoples' immune systems, young and old, are damaged after repeated infections in the ongoing pandemic, raising the chances for anything people get sick with to be worse, and that the rates of many different diseases have increased in the past few years. I wouldn't be surprised if all that is related to Flu rates reaching record highs since 1999 and overwhelming hospitals in Japan around the end 2024. Wishing everyone a healthy 2025.

Sudden deaths, unexplained illnesses, and accelerated cancer diagnoses have been reported globally.

Increased rates of myocarditis, autoimmune disorders, and unexplained neurological issues have been observed post-vaccination.

Post-vaccination, or perhaps post-covid? The pandemic virus itself is being linked to all the things mentioned above, including in people who were not vaccinated.

I'm thankful to have been living in Japan the past 5 years where masking is not political, and I hear stories now from places in the US where I'm from where even doctors and nurses are not masking. The only reason people think Covid is over or nothing to worry about is because people have often survived the acute stages, and government and business leaders want money to keep flowing, and I urge anyone who thinks the same to spend 5 minutes online reading about people's long covid experiences. As per the article, ''60.7 percent of people possessed antibodies'' shows Covid is still in our bodies, it is being compared to AIDS, and there is evidence to suggest that it damages immune systems (perhaps hence the amount of Flu in Japan right now), brains, basically any part of the body. We don't need lockdowns or mandates. Let's clean the air in schools and hospitals, mask in crowded places, stay home when sick.

Or maybe the constant wear of masks, and hiding from the sun, made the imune system extremely weak...

Or it could be the ongoing pandemic that has been shown to weaken people’s immune systems. I actually wonder if it’s a combination of that + many people not wearing masks anymore. Also I read Japan isn’t the only country that has seen a rise like this in other illnesses recently, and I would bet most countries stopped wearing masks before Japan did.
