that "compact olympics" idea that was so prominent in their bidding campaign is a resounding success. and yes, i know that soccer was originally proposed for tohoku at the time of their bid, but now organizers want areas outside of Tokyo to host events?? i'm confusing

this guy is the best hitter in baseball, so i don't worry if he is clean or not...
this is the first triple crown in my lifetime, and it very well may be the last, so i am always going to remember this amazing accomplishment. congrats to miggy

completely agree with seawolf...this was a just a PR event for the 2020 olympic bid. although it's possible they fudged the numbers a little bit, i do think a large number of people were genuinely happy to go and see the medalists. i just think it it's a little sad that they were being somewhat used for mr. ishihara's 2020 pipe dream...

@HideSuzuki...my man!! i agree with you on this one...
anyway, congrats to both teams for a fantastic game. i can't blame the canadian coach for his comments...although i don't feel the exact same way he does, he was emotional and sticking up for his team...but the Canadian ladies played their hearts out, and they have made all Canadians proud. take home that bronze and make history!!!

@HideSuzuki...after the game Coach Sasaki said that he instructed his players to play for the draw...if you are going to laugh at me for that too, i can also tell you that the Japanese team hardly looked like they were playing for the win. I completely understand resting top players, but to come out and say that were not trying to win is hardly good sportsmanship. do you actually approve of that behaviour?

@HideSuzuki ... thanks for your advice. i did read the article...and i don't believe everything i read or see in the media. the travel thing is an excuse and frankly a much weaker excuse than not wanting to play someone else...at least that would have been honest. if you are going to whine and nag about travel, then you shouldn't be representing any country in the Olympics. this is shameful...

memo to Nadeshiko Japan: you are the reigning world champions. all other teams should be using these questionable tactics to avoid playing YOU...not the other way around. you're world champions, start acting like it...

Hide Suzuki...i'm from Canada. if kawasaki wants to play with ichiro, then he's going to have to earn it...but Dotakun makes the best point so far. Figgins failed rather miserably in Seattle, so it's hard to imaging kawasaki being a huge improvement.

Mr. Suzuki...I have no idea what you mean when you say "by putting down Japanese players, we are only putting down American players"... if most Japanese players were so skilled, wouldn't many many more of them be playing in the Major Leagues now??
