total crap if you consider an onsen and some traditional food crap. want to know what is crap though? going to a restaurant... in niseko, IN JAPAN, and having nothing on the menu written in japanese. real great. the overpopulation of tourists has ruined that town. when you go there you should feel like you are in japan, not australia.

im surprised there wasnt anything about having to be fed gohan written in there. Christ, I know foreigners born and raised in japan, speaking no english or other western language, being more japanese than some of the children i see being raised today. Its never about your looks, its who you are. when will people figure this out?

Why does it matter regardless? Obama could be Rastafarian for all I care. Why are people so concerned with what someone else's religion is? If they have one at all...

Same old case, same old story. Its horrible. Unfortunately japanese children feel that bullying kids and outcasting people socially, even at that early of an age, is cool. What is worse is that the ones being bullied are actually affected by what others think of them. What is worse than that is that even as adults, Japanese people "muishiki ni" commit these same immoral acts. It never ends, but in response to the old Japanese saying, "A nail that sticks out of a wall must be hammered back in..." That nail could hang a beautiful painting!

The candy Fruity Flesh. Or snack bars that have snack written properly on one side of a sign and have it written SNUCK on the other side.

@Fadamor: People from Okinawa are kind and light hearted, they understand the values of diversity but also the importance of one's own culture! Or thats what I gathered. I was pleased to see what this article said about Iwate-Ken, cause thats where I lived for quite a while. I met a friend there who came from Okinawa and what I wrote up there is what I truly believe! Now I am in Tokyo... sigh.

Posted in: Do you think a man holding a door open for a woman, holding her chair for her when she sits down, or giving up his seat for her are outmoded gestures of politeness or do they still have their place in See in context

I thinking the people commenting on here are predominantly located in large Japanese cities. Tokyo, Osaka, and their surrounding areas. Mainly because the work they can find (English Teaching) is needed in the big cities. I lived out in the mountains in Iwate (Hachimantai Shi) for about two years and I found nothing but incredible people who had amazing manners. People who barely knew you yet would do anything for you. Now of course when you go to Tokyo and everyone is in a rush and does not have time to focus on anything other than getting to work, it seems like they dont have manners or regard for their surroundings. Its simply a bi-product of big city life. Being polite never goes out of style though, Japanese folk know that as well.

My goodness, of course there is a bit in news about america and people of every other nationality get to have a field day. I really wish you could see the way people spoke about your countries in the past. Might be a reality check. Every country has faults and messes up time to time. America is just a really big country, a huge country compared to most. Our population is higher, which provides for more opportunities to screw up.

When are you guys going to learn to lay off and spend your time effectively instead of on generating negativity and crude comments.
