Posted in: Sea Shepherd finds Japanese ship with slaughtered whale See in context

"But the very next day the Japanese whalers go the cruise Australia water with their catch of fresh whales. Talk about a slap in the face to Australian relationships." John-San

This whaling thing should not be ruled by Sea Shepherd but by common sense. Fishing industry (all around the world) already eradicates lots of the planet oceans assets. Especially cruising around Africa (what do you think Ticad is also about?) in exchange of financial compensations. The same consideration for oceans, forests, natural ressources reminds us that our future is more dangerous than we think.

Posted in: Defense minister visits Yasukuni shrine one day after returning from Pearl Harbor See in context

What will the younger generations believe about Abe and Obama governments, watching such cynicism? Won't they believe that the Pearl Harbor reconciliation ceremony and Inada's visit to the Yasukuni shrine were just a pretext, a theatre, and finally an insult to the victims of WW2, a war caused by Japanese nationalists?

Posted in: Japanese kindergarten teaches students pre-war ideals See in context

"the Tsukamoto kindergarten in Osaka looks like any other school in Japan, but its unique curriculum is reminiscent of pre-war Japan."

Japanese chidren are not given enough to learn their own national history. Basically Japanese kids do not hear about WW2 at school. Have no ideas what their grand parents did, agreed or endured. This could also stretch a parallel with nowadays Islamic extremist schools such as Boko Haram teaching women or small children to become terrorists and brainwash them for years. It just happened to these 2 girls, 7 and 8, apparently "kamikaze" who were blown up Sunday morning in a market in northeastern Nigeria. Not that we heard about such crimes yet here although there are more and more cases of discriminations in Japan (the kids evacuated from Fukushima for instance) (hate speeches and nasty behaviours during demonstrations) (low salaries for foreign workers, especially Asians) (history revisionism) etc. Now, be clear, nothing bad to teach a child to respect the flag of his her country. But this school of Osaka has options, and it is definitely carrying a strong sense of nationalism. And nationalism leads to wars! Who can say what will happen with the new world disorder and what exactly is Education ministry doing?

"The deaths of a young Japanese UN volunteer and that of a Japanese police officer serving with the civilian police, who were taking part in a PKO for the first time, just as the SDF was, aroused much mass media interest and shook UNTAC to its foundations. However, UNTAC persistently continued with dialogue and its operations..."

Whatever dramatic circumstance are. Everyday or nearly, a crime happens in Japan. Was it the same as that before the arrival of the social networks or is it Japan new trend today? Japan is not a safe country any longer.

You know what they say... めんどくさい (troublesome) but this survey is a surprise: why are there so many prostitutes, clubs, online dates? They make the fortune of Yakuza and related groups.

Congratulations to Priyanka Yoshikawa! The narrative is eloquent here. Is it just a demographic problem, a way to hire more talented foreigners to enter Japan and exist in the global village or a great joy for Japanese to see that their language is spoken by many beautiful ladies? Meanwhile "Haafu” will have to see their rights reinforced in Japan and in their 2nd other country because is is not easy to be born half here in Japan. To begin with, say, when Japanese TV channels still use vulgar discriminative comments and filming as a tool of… entertainment! Racism exists here too and the hate speech against Koreans and Chinese existed too long with a quasi official “Haafu-blessing”. Happily enough things improve. For Japan and other nations benefit. At first and in the end, dignity should solely prevail. Congratulations again to lady Priyanka Yoshikawa!

Neither Japan nor China will have the means of conflict because of the Senkaku, this naval promenade is simply to allow inflating defense budgets, please nationalists, emotionalists, populists and use tension as a tool of governance. All countries do the same. After 3/11, 1 billion bullets were ready to fight the culprit to the satisfaction of the defence industries.

"... five out of the top 20 are located in Okinawa... " Indeed, a very interesting point by author Corey Gold. Tour Operators should add a free Tokyo-Naha-Tokyo or Osaka-Naha-Osaka air flight (+ hotels 2 nights 3 days) plan option to foreign tourists visiting Japan. To visit cultural sites and splendid islands.

Typical Japanese negationist syndrome. Ask the Inada woman about the involvement of the Japanese military in Okinawan civilian mass suicides. Bayonettes to push children, men and women to kill themselves, the "suicide cliffs". Abject. Assigned as Defense minister, and no military capacities, puppet. Japanese generals are flabbergasted, feel insulted.
