Badsey, there are netphones already. they're called smartphones. and recently they're getting much better. even the iphone is a smartphoneso why double up? the iPad's way too big for pocketability.

i agree with Weasel, this is a big ipod touch.

Hmmm, iphone with no phone, camera, or USB. Is it a crippled iphone or a crippled laptop? both?

no matter how cheap the 3G service, you still need the cell phone and you still need the laptop. With those two, you can do everything that you can do on an Ipad, and more. you don't need this.

I don't know which is more frightening, armadillos or lizards.

I'm curious. Since 90% of the debt is held by Japanese and J banks, what will happen when the gov't defaults?

Obviously, a lot of people will be upset, and poorer, of course, but I'm no economist, so I just have no idea beyond that.

geeze, it's a coverband, folks. these bands exist everywhere, and they're almost always fun as hell.

if you can't understand that very basic point, you need to relax. how this story gets turned around into a "sad state of affairs," only the JT gods know.

I like her smock. The finger-paint job she did on her hair, not so much.

Too late. Muslims have already done this to themselves.

Sorry, there is no way to deny that appearance makes a BIG difference in a candidate's palatability.

Posted in: Reid to Obama: Sorry for 'no Negro dialect' remark See in context

Reid may have made improper comments, but they were exactly correct. Obama's oratory skill was probably the most important reason (among many) he was elected. And there is no way to deny that appearance makes no difference in a candidates palatability.

Nobody wants to admit these things, but they are true.

Posted in: Video games -- the best Japanese teacher money can buy See in context

talktotheclouds, yeah, it's amazing the number of crappy books out these days (facilitated by that industry unto itself, Amazon), and yet nobody ever says bad things about the entire book medium. indeed, anybody who did would be deemed anti-education. in fact there is a whole genre of "how to" books on making your crappy book a best seller on Amazon!!!

womanforwomen's opinion kind of exemplifies what the writer was saying. how are video games childish, and yet checkers, charades, monopoly and gin rummy are not?

the writer makes several good points. it is curious how the western bias against video games is not only restricted to violent games.
