she was sleeping with lots of older men like a maniac since she was a kid so presumably she knows what she likes

That's an interesting conclusion. I could speculate about why she does it, and one reason is not polite enough for me to post(hint, it starts with "s" and ends with "t"). The other potential explanation is just too sad.

good on him. the j-pop industry is a complete farce,

call the industry a "complete farce," then congratulate the guy for excelling in said "farce."

yeah, uh, that makes sense.

Nice, but not for everyone.

It's businessman culture, not shopping, lunch, meeting up, or weekend culture. Definitely limited in its potential.

He's not doing that Thai greeting with the hands is he? Just do a normal wave you dolt!

I was walking with my wife in Montreal once and a (white) couple passed by us and said Nee How(Chinese "hello"), and then did the Thai praying hands thingy with a bow. I tell that one at parties, and it never gets old here in Japan.

Girls were a little more likely to send pictures of themselves. Yet boys were more likely to say that sexting is “hot,” while most girls called it “slutty.”

Uuh, this boy agrees with the girls, but I wouldn't do it. How ironic...

Posted in: Woman catches 10-year-old boy who falls from 3rd-floor window See in context

numbskull, why even speculate about something you don't even know happened? and in the negative? perhaps the student jumped. perhaps he was pushed. but the story says nothing about anything like that. nor does it say he fell from her call.

the point is, it looks like it would make you feel better if the woman "caused" the boy to fall, which is impossible anyway, because she didn't put him on the ledge.

so the question is, why do you want her to be in the wrong?

bobbafett

gimme a break. hes on a ledge. its a fall waiting to happen. even if she did use a loud voice, what kind of person would warn someone in a "gentle" voice anyway?

i'm sorry, but you should have thought a little more about your comment before you posted it.

Posted in: 10 ways to get a seat on a packed commuter train in Japan See in context

Nessie, if you hope to get your gaijin/seat thesis to hold water, how are you going to defend it against this simple catch 22:

Foreigners cannot possibly be seated on a Japanese train, without having gotten an empty seat on a Japanese train, with lots of Japanese in it. The Japanese are discriminating against themselves. It is the only way to explain the presence of empty seats (in which you sit down) next to them. And if the Japanese discriminate against everyone who IS a foreigner, as well as everyone who IS NOT a foreigner, then really they discriminate against nobody.

Please respond.

Cleo, the seats beside me are always full, too. I do, however, see some empty seats beside Japanese people, quite often. And I am often the one to fill them.
