There was very informative press conference by Professor Lee Young-Chae of a Japanese college. It would be very helpful for those of you who are biased or less informed about current South Korea and Japan feud.

What I can see from above comments by some ppl is that their views are narrow and outdated on Korea and Japan. If you don't see clearly, you can't solve problems between two countries.

Japan is not as great country as in 1980s when Sony, Sharp, Toshiba etc. electronic gadgets swept all around the world. Those days are gone long time ago.

Japan government debt is soaring like a sky rocket. Your soil is contaminated by fatal radioactive materials and your government try to hide scientific and medical facts from their own ppl.

Your rightist (almost fascistic) government wants to go back to pre-WWII status which is ridiculous and anachronistic.

Japanese, wake up ! Beer is a tiny part of big world.

One more thing that I'd like to address is that it is not a matter of money but the attitude of Japanese government and people regarding forced laborers and sex slavery women.

It would be helpful to know the fact that South Korean voluntarily donated about 10,000,000,000 yen to victims of Tohoku earthquake in 2011 and visited Japan as tourists and spend 700,000,000,000 yen last year.

Everyone except Abe and his followers knows that it is a shameful retaliation against Supreme Court ruling of South Korea.

1965-pact doesn't cover individual compensations as Japan foreign minister and Japan supreme court admitted in 1991, 1994 and 2007. Mr. Abe, you should not keep saying that South Korea doesn't abide by the pact between two countries.

South Korean have never realized how much they addicted to Japanese stuff in manufacturing business. Due to unwise export curbing by Abe administration, they have woken up. They will find ways to be independent from Japan in industry. Thanks Abe. you are the man... LOL

First, we are not southeast Asians. Historically, Japan invaded Korean peninsula numerous times. If you don't know the history (recent one is not half of 19th century but 20th) well, go and dig it up.

Second, Abe still keep bowing to the tomb of 1st grade war criminals.

Third, Abe government wants to be a normal country that is able to involve in wars in other soils again.

Fourth, South Korea is one of largest importing country of Japan stuff. And also South Korean is the largest number of visitor second to Chinese, which shows well the economic relationship between two countries.

Finally, We want constructive relationship with Japan as long as Japan government behaves reasonably. But look what Abe government did recently. The reaction of South Korea is far away from a childish emotional jerky movement as you said. It is rather rational, factual, and historical one.

Abe's insisted that export curb is not a retaliation but national security matter, which is totally deception. The link below is PPI (Paddling Peril Index) which simply shows how a country control their strategic materials such as nuclear parts.

(Hitech necessities) Export curbs by Abe government irrationally based on Supreme court judgement of South Korea was issued a way of retaliation that is obviously violation of free trade principles of WTO. Be aware of that the treaty of 1965 between Korea and Japan dosen't cover compensations for individual personnels who were forced to work and not paid and also comfort women which is basically sex slaves.

Japan has played role of victims since end of wwii which is ridiculous. Japan was the invader. Yet they haven't regret at all officially. Real victims were Koreans and other east asians that Japan empire exploited, raped, and slaughtered.

Young japanese should have been taught about those history correctly but they haven't. Japan has just overlooked what their ancestor visciously did.......Shameful.

Pay the victims and regret what you have done to them instead of inaptly breaking world supply chain.

They are extremly biased toward right and not reasonable at all. Korean 40s who are the main ages to lead the country just ignore them. Those two have been heavy supporter former president Park who is in jail for bribery and other crimes. Shame on them ! If you got views on South Koreans from those two channels, you will be ridiculed.
