I wonder why he would want to steal such a camera. There should be a reason.

"to stick needles in gentlemen's genitals" seriously, some people must really like that.

i doubt this will change much the current market share. they will have to compete mainly with samsung and htc, and other hardware brands that use android as platform.

Posted in: New judo rules favor Japan at world championships See in context

Judo is practiced by millions of people around the world, and each school has more or less their own tricks to victory. Each time the rules are changed, such as in other disciplines, it is normal that they are going to be in favor of, or in the detriment of, part of the players/countries. Some countries with ruling status over one discipline will surely modify the rules so that they be in favor of their own players.

Posted in: Japan voices irritation at Ban's comments See in context

Ban's words, and attitude, look like he was an envoy from China, not the UN, in which China has lots of weight and influence. I think we should ban Ban from speaking, because he is not aware of what is going on in the world.

Posted in: Miyazaki hints at possible 'Nausicaa' sequel See in context

I saw Nassicaä and the Valley of the Wind long ago. It would be nice to have a sequel, but then I have to watch the first part again to refresh my memory about the story. I acknowledge that I don't really like the masculine, especially heroic, aspect of the main character, although as a young boy (over 20 years ago) fascinated by aircraft, I really fancied her motorized flying wing :)

That's really heartbreaking. Another loss of a young life. I used to be targeted by mischievous young students in the past, and was sort of "bullied" too. RIP little dude, now you're up there with angels and they will treat you good.

I praise the mother's courage. Her lost may never be compensated, but her example as a strong person is very positive to others.

It's the first time I ever see this word "gubernatorial". I guess it is derived from the word "govern" and from the French word "gouverner".

Posted in: Japan eyes doubling ground troops on islands close to China, Taiwan See in context

I guess this is probably to counter any possible Chinese amphibian invasion, which military drill is held every year in a specific part of the southern Hainan Island, to simulate amphibian troops invading Taiwan. If China were to attack any Japanese island, she would have to successfully taken Taiwan and other Taiwanese islands first. Now casting away economical and financial concerns, it is better to defend oneself at any price than to be invaded, right?

Posted in: Taiji meeting on dolphin hunt set for Nov 2; public to be barred See in context

@mikechar: "Activists are using techniques that work well in the west, but I fear that it will be completely ineffective in Japan <...> Activists need to be much more aware of Japanese culture and how change happens in Japan. Right now they are trying to fit a square peg in a round hole."

I do agree with you on that!

Posted in: Taiji meeting on dolphin hunt set for Nov 2; public to be barred See in context

I love dolphins and don't want to see them being slaughtered like that, but point is Taji fishermen hunting dolphins threatening the survival of that species? If not, why not let them continue their annual ritual by just encouraging them making it less "bloody"?
