Posted in: Democrats demand full Mueller report; Trump says OK with him See in context

I'm not understanding your explanation. How are those two things different?

A bit technical perhaps, but let me attempt to explain a different way: You accuse me of being an agent of a foreign. If true, I would be be a traitor. That doesn't however, make the accuser guilty of treason.

Look again at the full quote:

They are literally, the media and Democrats have called the president an agent of a foreign government. That is an accusation equal to treason, which is punishable by death in this country,”

"That is an accusation that is equal to,.." not "making that accusation is equal to treason."

Small and pedantic as it may be, I feel it's important to point this out, lest our Trump friends accuse the media of bias.

Think about that, for a moment. Political opponents and the media are being threatened with the death penalty for the investigation and reporting on it.

To be fair, I don't read her comment as saying accusing the president of being a foreign agent is treason. She is saying the accusation is equal to treason, not the act of making that accusation.

Well, unless the idea is to conduct a smear campaign in the court of public opinion, based on innuendo and half-truths. Which is not about the law, but about politics.

erm, no. I think it is a fair point to ask just how much Barr/Trump interfered in the investigation. Let's look at a couple of the facts:

1) Trump stated he never would have nominated Sessions if he would have known Sessions would recuse himself.

2) Trump fired Sessions.

3) He nominated Barr.

4) Barr wrote a piece last year, claiming there never should have been a special counsel.

5) A month after being confirmed, the SC is wrapped up.

6) The SC is funded through the end of the year.

What a coincidence!? Trump gets an AG doesn't believe there ever should have been an SC and like magic, its gone.

So, no. Its not over with. Especially when you take into fact we still haven't seen the Mueller report.

I know they got paid millions. You were the one claiming otherwise. It benefits mueller and his team to the tune of 1.7 million in salaries to drag this out 4 more months.

Not once did I say the Mueller campaign received millions in funding. That is true. You, however, claimed Mueller got paid millions. Then you backed down and said well, he didn't get paid millions, but his team did. Who cares? Who really cares if a dozen lawyers get paid several million dollars collectively. They still weren't paid millions individual.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but it certainly seems you are trying to paint this whole thing as a money grab for connected lawyers. That couldn't be further from the truth. After all, the lawyers on the case could be making more than they are:

http://money.com/money/5306210/mueller-trump-investigation-pay/

In fact, several lawyers took pay cuts to work with Mueller. Your claim is just silly.

Perhaps, you're more concerned about the amount of money the investigation costs. Well, the investigation has turned up more in penalties and fines than it has cost. Here you go:

Oh ok so I proved they got paid millions in salary. So now you are like well of course they would, they are lawyers and there are a lot of them. Yep there are- Mueller and his team.

A team of some of the top lawyers getting paid millions collectively, not individually, is hardly news. Good grief. How much do you think attorneys actually make? $50k? lol Get out of here with that.

no different than liberals screaming Trump over and over. then I find its Trumps associate or adviser or campaign manager or lawyer and not Trump himself.

To be clear, it does not bother you that Trump's campaign manager worked for and owed Russian organizations money?

Its gonna stretch out to 2020 when Trump gets reelected.

Other than the fact that you now know you voted for a scumbag, what difference does it matter? Investigations take time.

So 1.7 milllon in salary for 4.5 months.....equals how much for almost 2 years?

lolololol Amongst how many attorneys? A dozen or more?!?! Wow!!!! They really got paid. Hey, how much does an average attorney make in a year? Your claims are just silly.

ok Mueller and his team. whatever.

No, no. Not whatever. Conflating and claiming Mueller or his team got paid millions is garbage- don't do it.

We have waited nearly 2 years for them to respond to all your baseless accusations with proof.

Investigations take time. Don't just take my word for it. Here's a link with a list to the average times for special investigations.

https://www.businessinsider.com/how-long-special-prosecutor-mueller-trump-2017-6

Why the rush? Its like you're afraid of what we might find out about a scumbag like Trump.

But now Dems in Congress are just starting the investigation all over. Not a good sign for you guys.

No,no. Its to be expected when Republicans did a half-ass job the first time around. Republicans interviewed no one. Seriously?

Mueller was paid 30 million dollars to answer all your questions.

Lol He was not paid 30 million dollars. Please stop talking nonsense. The investigation may have received 30 million dollars, but Mueller certainly did not receive the money personally. Enough with this nonsense.

ok, so what was he convicted of that was related to his only connection to Trump, the campaign for 4 months?

Well first of all, he cheated on his taxes and committed other crimes, which regardless of his political connections, deserve to be punished. Next, does the fact that Trump's campaign manager has worked with Russian operatives and is, in fact indebted to them, not bother you? Consider the sudden change in the Republican platform. Why did the GOP soften its stance towards Russia and why does Trump have such a soft spot for Russia.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't know if Trump colluded with Russia, but it seems someone in his camp did. Its too much of a coincidence that the GOP stance on Russia softened at the same time Manafort just happened to be campaign manager. Its too much of coincidence that Trump refuses to release his taxes at the same time his sons have claimed to borrow from Russian organizations, while Trump continues to praise Putin and trash US intelligence.

Be mad all you want. But Dems are misleading people if socialism doesn’t mean free stuff. That’s what the people who hear it and support it think it means.

Do you come here to discuss things with others, or just talk to yourself?

It was YOU, not the link you posted, who claimed Stalin, Mao etc were socialists. They are not. People aren't just demanding "free stuff." I understand how income redistribution, so spare the lecture on how nothing is free.

As other posters have written, I'd like know why the government shouldn't get involved in regulating the prices of things such as healthcare and education.

The website URL clearly states all those people are “socialists”. Or do socialIsts not practice socialism? Be mad at the website not me if it’s inaccurate. Too bad that the people listed are “bad people” but you own them.

Oh, so you can post a link to any website that says anything and it makes it true? Absolutely ridiculous.

in the USA we earn what we get.

Unless, of course, you're born into a rich family like Donald J. Trump, then you don't have to work a day in your life.

Only 17% of millennials can even accurately describe what’s claimed that 50% of them want.

And given the way "socialism" is thrown about here, far fewer than 17% of Trumpies know what socialism.

Lots of weird theories about newspapers here.

Indeed. The decline in print media is more of a result of technological change, rather than a reaction to "fake news."

Otherwise, how can one explain the rise of the NYT or the success of progressive talk shows?

its his own money. So if that’s a violation I think people would be surprised.

Whose money it is, is not the issue. The issue is not disclosing campaign finance information. And again, for like the 100th time; Cohen is going to jail in part for campaign finance violations. Donald J. Trump is listed in the sentencing memo as Individual 1.

The FEC has had 2.5 years to impose a fine and have not so.....probably ok?

Or perhaps the charges are in one of the 3 dozen sealed indictments?

You're justifying this investigation as retaliation for the Benghazi investigation.

Lolz No, you didn't read the rest of my post. As multiple other people have pointed out, the special counsel has produced hundreds of charges against dozens of individuals in and around the Trump administration. The only reason Trumpies want it shut down is you're afraid of what might be found out about Individual 1 and his crime family.

Before those are done a pointless house committee will start investigating, well we don't know because none of these fraud investigations ever name an actual crime.

Well Todd, the if we knew what the crimes were, we wouldn't need an investigation now, would we?

We are now 3 years into nonstop so called investigations of imagined trump crimes and nothing

How many years, Todd, did Republicans spend on BS Benghazi investigations? They found nothing, which of course, we cannot say about this investigation. So, sit back and enjoy the ride.

This tax thing is ridiculous. We know why Trump is rich.

It is ridiculous that we elected such a disgusting scumbag. Indeed we do know where "his" money. He inherited a lot and then ripped off a lot of people. (See Trump University and Trump Casinos.)

We know where Donny's money came from, so where are the tax returns? Itd be fair to say hes not under audit anymore, right?;)

Strange that no one is curious how Dems who worked in Congress for 20-40 years at $170,000 per year are multimillionaires.

Lololz only Dems, huh? Personally I'm not too curious, because most people in congress are already millionaires when elected. $170kX 40 years is like $6.8m dollars, not including tvm calculations. You do understand tvm, don't you?;)

He didn’t pay his taxes and committed bank fraud. That’s why he is going to jail.

That is one reason he is going to jail. The other is campaign finance crimes. Reading the sentencing memorandum. Its all in there. Again sorry your opinion doesn't match the facts.

If it’s confirmed to be a campaign finance violation per the law why hasn’t Trump been fined like Obama was? Why is he not in jail like Cohen will be?

Because you can't indict a sitting president. Cohen will have to pay like $1.4m in fines etc. Trump will, too, once he has his day in court.

To be perfectly fair, I can completely understand why they attacked Cohen. It makes tactical sense. Trump is objectively a liar, and subjectively a sociopath. The facts are not stacked in favor of Trump or the GOP, so attack Cohen is the logical route. Of course, it makes it painfully obvious how awful Trump is.
