Takeshi HasegawaJuly 24  08:34 pm JST - can't find any source saying there was even no fans in the room, though.

The apartment had no air conditioners or fans to cool them down despite the scorching heat in Tokyo, police said.

Maybe try the source you're reading.

It seems like someone doesn't even know most of JT articles are just translated ones from Japanese reports.

These ladies had a helper why the hell did this person report this to the Welfare that these ladies were not adequately provided for in this horrible heat. This could NOT have been something that just surfaced if helpers were being sent regularly.

There aren't any sources saying they didn't even have cooling fans and according to some source, some care worker visited them once a week.

Just a sample of the natural selection. If you lived for over 70-80, it would be a natural death no matter how you die.

If you dirty your own yard, you don't necessarily need to clean on the same day. But if you dirty other person's yard, you need to clean immedietely on the same day.

I remember when I hurt my ankle in Japan and only limited number of people would help to open doors as I was with clutches. In my country, people rush to help...that is only physical but starts with such actions of understanding the others' conditions.

more complicated in Japan. The people here know that some of injured/handicapped/elder people get piss off if you help them. "Don't nose into my business! Leave me along!!!"

THIS is the problem of having a society that looks at mentally challenged people as "an embarrassment".

If it were more open, read more humane and loving, people would feel less inclined to hide their mentally challenged offspring from the world.

You don't seem to know that the crime rate of the mentally handicapped people is so high in Japan. And there are a few facilities can accommodate them who are mentally handicapped but physically non-handicapped, are aggressive and tend to intermittently commit anti-social acts.

"Smith in Japan" always hit the nail right on the head... clear concise and to the point. Glad to see a commentator with good sense and judgment.

His argument has no single concreteness at all regarding why Takeshima/Dokdo belongs to Japan/Korea, though.

I strongly oppose to the whaling under the name of scientific research. Actually it's an overt lie. Japan need to cooperate with other whaling countries and create a new framework of commercial whaling and then go hunt whales fair and square.

It cannot happen at any price. Actually the approval rate of the non-LDP guys is not rising at all amid the Abe's scandals. Another LDP guy will just take the PM's seat.

Actually in Japan, it seems that the subtle indirect type crimes(uttering obscene words, showing abdomen, throwing body fluid, stalking, groping in the crowd towards children and women) are comparatively many while the direct type crimes(assaulting, raping, robbing) are few.

That's definitely Japanese name. She is no doubt a Japanese ex-pat, but the Japanese media loves any chance they can get to defame any other country, especially Americans. The fact they left the 'n' off 'Hawaiian' points to an avoidance of her true nationality. Perhaps the headline should read, "Japanese woman in Hawaii...."

Well, any Japanese medias have yet to officially report this case, though.

Any talks are totally useless to resolve NK's nuclear issue. I really wonder why people soon forget that every single talks ever with NK ended up in failure or rather have just reinforced them and extended their people's sufferings.

The police protects not the guys but the public security, of course. In fact police behaves in the very same way when lefties do protest campaigns.

Although I don't know how long have you lived here in Japan or you are would-be Japannologist living abroad, it cannot happen the commoners here don't report a money fraud unlike a petty quarrel in a downtown.

We do need a new framework of commercial whaling. And then should demand Japan to shift from "scientific research" to it. Otherwise pretty unfair.

As for chikan charge, you do NOT need any evidence to charge a suspected man. All you need to do is the woman's testimony. And then the charged men have to prove to not commit chikan in the court. It's so hard to prove to not do it.

Basically, comparing JT Crime section 2016 ans 2017 or other ENGLISH news on Japan, I can see an increase. So, where do they get their stats?

Better yet, don't use JT as your "source" for accurate information. You will see more information/articles HERE reporting crimes than you will see in an actual Japanese newspaper or evening news program.

Almost all of the crime articles reported in JT and other English news on Japan are just translations from Japanese newspapers. And the Japanese reports of the Japanese newspapers are based on the reports by the Japanese police.
