@Newpresident Google SBW and you'll see many news articles condemning him since October 7th.

On the rugby issue I fully agree with him and you.

Many in Australia and New Zealand also regard Williams as a disgrace at present as he posts anti Israel material on his X account nearly everyday.

Posted in: Facilities for disabled face serious labor shortages in Japan: survey See in context

A similar story in my neighborhood @Yubaru

A disabled workshop in my neighborhood regularly had people selling handicrafts and homemade snacks at our local station but I haven't seen them in ages. Also the two young Nepalese university students who took wheelchair bound people from a local facility for walks around here everyday have vanished since summer.

Also a family member of ours was working a few hours twice a day at mealtimes at an adult daycare facility but quit when her salary was cut to ¥900 and then ¥850 an hour.

Sign of the times I guess. I swear I see more people and couples in my local park with dogs rather than kids nowadays. And some with two or three pooches.

Just regarding the number of refugees accepted by Japan in 2022. I detail an earlier story from JT this year..

"Last year, Japan awarded a record 202 people refugee status and had a 2 percent refugee application approval rate.

This year, the country has granted more people refugee status than usual. In July, 114 Afghans who were local employees of the Japan International Cooperation Agency, as well as their family members, were recognized as refugees."

Also...

"Between 2001 and 2020, Japan approved an average of less than 1 percent of applications"

Excellent post ukguyjp.

I have lived in Japan near 30 years at four different locations and have introduced myself or greeted my closet neighbors when moving in wherever possible but new Japanese neighbors have NEVER done what the article says when they've arrived in the neighborhood.
