@ AmericanForeigner "No wonder Osaka is overrun with organized crime, with such an errant police force. Those of you who claim Osaka to be "safe" need to spend more time here on JT. Random stabbings, you name it, the place must be a nightmare." I agree please help by putting this info on other sites so the WORLDd can know how it really is over here..it will save us in the long run I'm American 2...many thanks!

@ smithinjapan "Not as often as you hear about it happening here, that's for sure, and usually there are clear cut reasons (at least in the mind of the person who attacks others). When someone goes on a rampage in another country you don't usually hear, "He bumped into me and didn't say 'excuse me'", or, "I murdered my father because he was bothering me about my cell phone", or, "She said I shouldn't do my lipstick on the train platform so I pushed her in front of the train," or, "I just felt like killing someone". You hear about this kind of random attack very often (or, 'Toorima jiken'), but it's usually a man who does it." I AGREE 100%

@ "Disillusioned"
"Sadly, I have seen this kind of thing quite regularly, although not resulting in death. Many times I have seen a loopy senior jump in to hassle someone younger about their manners and they are extremely aggressive. Just the other day I saw an old guy on the train abusing everyone for not sitting close enough together. One semi-senior intervened to calm him down and the old coot wanted to fight him. Just watch your P's and Q's people. There are plenty of nutters out there waiting for an excuse to snap."
I agree that I've seen a lot of pre snappers. One old lady and an old man got into it near a supermarket- both looked like they had blood in their eyes...but I just kept going....us gaigins have enough to worry about here in J-land.

Yeah, people get stabbed in other countries too, but it usually cos of a fight or a robbery, but that is not the case in Japan. How many have there been in the last month? 3? 4? How about the girl slashed in the face last week? There are some serious psychological issues in Japanese society that just keep being swept under the tatami."

@ Elbuda Mexicano No idea about operas but sounds more like this nut case was in love with this man's wife, he could not have her, so he did the typical low down evil selfish thing any snake in the grass would do here in Japan, dress up like a mailman, yamato takkyubin guy etc..ring your door bell and stab you, actually not as rare as many of you all here may think. RIP dead husband and burn in hell for all of eternity by wife's crazy boss. I agree!
