Posted in: Detained Sri Lankan 'treated like a dog,' says family after seeing video See in context

One look at the comments on yahoo Japan will give you some good insight into how some Japanese feel about this issue. Hardly anything that resembles anything like Olympic spirit.

Mostly about how kokumin money was wasted on such a person who shouldn’t have been in Japan in the first place.

There is little sympathy for her or her family in this matter. The remorse for the cameras is only because all of the Olympics aren’t over yet.

Same with the token gesture of granting asylum to the goalie from Myanmar. They won’t post data on how many applicants are rejected per year, but look at us, we accepted one guy during the Olympics.

OS1 is way more effective than Gatorade, Aquarius, or even Pocari Sweat.

If it tastes like crap your body doesn’t need it so much. If it tastes good your body needs it.

It’s sold in your local drugstore. It’s a bit more expensive than the aforementioned drinks but well worth the price.

It’s also the ultimate hangover remover. I’m surprised nobody has mentioned it on here yet.

The first part was a quote. Everything below that is my comment. Apologies.

You said:

Is it racism driving the consistently negative comments? Is it that she speaks her mind? Is it the fact that she speaks out on systemic racism? Or maybe their just jealous.

For one, I think it’s because she only “speaks her mind” or “speaks out” about things in countries where she doesn’t even hold a passport.

Can you point me to any instance where she has had any criticism at all about Japan or Japanese society?

please enlighten me. Thanks in advance.

One need only read the yahoo comments section to see what the most Japanese feel about her being selected.

And to get a real taste of how a lot of Japanese feel about what I means to be Japanese.

Also, I agree with those here who state that Osaka has made no comment whatsoever about racial injustice and the like in the country she holds a passport.

This whole idea was most likely hatched to try to take attention away from the recent scandals that have been making the rounds in international media.

@BORSCHT

Either way, recording with their phones as they walk in is in poor taste in my opinion. It’s a ceremony in an event. They are participating, not watching.

It looks terrible seeing a lot of the athletes walking in recording everything on their smartphones.

They are participating in the ceremony, not watching it.
