Posted in: Why do some native English speakers use broken or grammatically incorrect English, when trying to communicate with someone who isn't a native English speaker, but who may understand some English? Do t See in context

I am not speaking in "broken English", but rather speaking English through Japanese grammar. In my usual daily routine here in Japan, my stress is to get my point across and to be understood as I am not in the business of teaching English to every Japanese I come across.

Language is a tool in which the main purpose for that tool is expression and communication.

Would you get mad if I used a flat head screwdriver to unscrew a philips screw if I had no philips screwdriver?

If I had to speak English in Katakana form, I will.

Sometimes I get afraid of speaking the English language for fear of being attacked on by dictionary hoarding hooligans. Please study my reasoning more than my English.

And I dislike the use of... "Speak better English", really?

There are a lot of commentators here who have undoubtedly never smoked Marijuana. His eyes wouldn't be looking like it was "darting around wildly".. his eyes would probably be looking still the same. -.- I'm asian.. I can say that.. =P And if he had been taking pure LSD like one commentator said.. he'd probably be hugging a tree or having a conversation with air... doubt he'd be a menace to society. As with anything.. and I mean anything at all... KNOW WHAT YOU PUT IN YOUR BODY. Research.. research.. research.. and it's advisable to have a sitter.

@zen

I agree with you 100% I was being a smart ass with the comment to you.

JR could start putting people up as suicide prevention watches. Nothing like this can ever be "magically" dealt with, but we can definitely put in measures to deter it. Doing something is better than doing nothing. Preventitive measures should be taken not after the fact.

Of course its selfish, its their life they are ending... how many times do we hear about random homicides? Would all you negative people prefer these people to run about killing others instead?

@basroil

Definitely.. even if he brought in revenue a billion times over, but does something wrong/bad enough to fire him.. fire him. It's the responsibility of the employee to stay on the right track and the responsibility of the managers to monitor liability.

If an individual has not done anything good/bad.. comes into work doing what he's hired to do, but not an overachiever or an underachiever, of course there would be no reason to fire him.. and there would be no reason to promote him either.

You shouldn't have to use a stick to get someone to do their job.. that should come naturally for the worker per pre-hire agreements.

I am all for work evaluations.. whether it be Annual... bi-annual.. etc. It sets a clear communication point between employer and employee, without proper communication, how would a worker understand what is expected/asked from him? It covers both legalities and mutual understanding... and shouldn't promote any ill feelings because both parties would again already be able to see what is coming, would it be a promotion or termination.

Not all managers take their jobs seriously.. if you are a manager.. manage, it's more than just a title. Responsibility lies in all levels and expectations should be clearly drawn and understood by everyone.

If I was a policy maker on the issue of suicide.. etc. I would try to put an emphasis on the individual rather than the impact of their suicide. Attack the root cause and try to divert it. Where were you when he was going through the psyche before he committed to suicide? I don't believe he just got up one day and decided.. today feels like a good day to kill myself. People around him should have noticed signs or maybe paid more attention to him. Sure.. it caused an inconvenience to society as far as schedule conflicts.. and traumatizing witnesses... but rather than taking responsibility to divert the issue.. i guess it's easier to say.. you should've done it by yourself at home. Where's your morality? Rather than say.. priority of responsibilities lies first in the individual to seek help... second to close family, friends and co workers... then it's society's responsibility. If it's an issue of disrupting society.. then society should step up their efforts to ensure we help each other and exhaust all possibilities first. Unless you're willing to step up your game for change or to help.. you should probably avoid public areas yourself. Knowing things like this happens and knowing you don't want to witness anything such as this... take responsibility for your own safety and be a hermit.

Some people really are... dead weight within the company. I wouldn't imagine a company wanting to fire someone who is actually contributing to profit. That's why it is very important to log everything and get everyone to sign everything. Counseling is very important, it's the responsibility of managers to properly coach and train as often as possible, if you have a dead beat employee that has been mooching off the company for a while... I blame the managers for allowing that to happen.

Seems like the female employee knew the store very well if she wasn't a manager. I don't expect all employees to know the access codes to get into the safe.. Safes in businesses like these usually would have a drop slot for regular employees to only make their drop but should have no way for them to opening it for any reason. If she was a Manager.. I don't thinks he would be working those hours alone. Or maybe I am wrong?
