Well, now that the Olympics have officially been postponed, there's no point in under reporting with the hope of still holding them this summer.

Posted in: Takeda Pharmaceutical says it is developing coronavirus drug See in context

Most masks are not sealed around the face, in fact most of the air you breath or exhale goes around the mask. If it was really efficient you would feel suffocated when wearing one.

A lot of the transmission comes from touching items that have been contaminated, so I guess full of softballs.

Most infectious disease experts are saying that masks alone are inefficient (idiots!), Ossanamerica knows better.

Experts advise to use masks if you are dealing with an infected person, like health care professionals. But they can't get masks because everyone on the planet wants one.

I would rather spend 8 hours in a room with a lot of people who are not contagious (that's a safe place) than be on public transportation with a bunch of people who are wearing masks that don't seal their faces. False sense of security is dangerous.

But Ossanamerica is a health care professional so listen to him.

PR baby, PR. Plasma from people who have recovered will already have the antibodies so not really "developing" anything.

If they are planning to marry, that would generally mean they are engaged. I note however, she is sans engagement ring.

Time to switch to anago (saltwater eels) not as bold taste as unagi but cover it with enough kabayaki sauce and you can hardly tell the difference. Not on the endangered list.

Posted in: More details emerge about anime studio arson attack that killed 33 See in context

Looking at photos of the building before and after the fire I see that there is a large balcony on both the second and third floors, sometimes there are rope ladders on the balcony or just inside it. The photo of the the same side of the building after the fire shows most of the damage is at these two balconies so the arsonist may have doused those areas to keep people from escaping through the balcony.

Jumping from a second or third floor can break an ankle or leg but is rarely fatal.

Well " the team" should have consulted Chinese aroma massues before they subjected mice to burned feet. The Chinese People's Army has used them for decades and confirmed that it is effective on human pain.

Posted in: Russia protests over G20 map it says showed disputed islands as Japan's See in context

Why is everyone forgetting the Ainu? They are recognized by both Russia and Japan as indiginous peoples. The Ainu consider both countries as Invaders. They partitioned Putin to not return the islands to Japan. So the obvious and moral solution is to make the islands autonomous and give them to the Ainu who number somewhere between 20k and 200k worldwide.

So, all you criminals, drug runners, human trafficers and assorted low lifes, skip Japan and go to San Francisco, it's a sanctuary city. They don't allow facial recognition and can't notify federal agents if you are there.

Traffic jams caused by tour busses, well not all tour busses are for foreign tourists. If you can't handle traffic jams, how about leaving your car at home and ride a bus yourself?

Posted in: Japan grapples with traffic jams, visitors' manners amid tourism boom See in context

Tourist huh, I guess that's why they have signs printed in Japanese in public toilets reminding people to keep the toilet clean.

Japan as the default standard on rudness? I guess we should all start slurping not only noodles but any liquid based food, lift plates to our chins and shovel food into our mouths, take of our shoes and pick our toes in restaurants, push past women and children to get a seat, let doors close in people's faces. Should I go on?

Schopenhauer

Do you mean to tell me those are 16 year old tatamis? Everything in that photo is virtually unused. Please note that it says there were no inmates on that floor and the press was not allowed on the floor where inmates were.

Whitewash.

Does anyone else get the feeling that the cell in the photo is brand new or recently renovated? It does not look like it has ever been lived in, no usual"wear and tear".

Posted in: Ghosn's wife appeals to Trump for help in U.S. media interview See in context

True, Carlos is not a U.S. citizen but Carole is. Trump can simply remind Abe that this has been an international embarrassment for Japan for some time. Businessmen (and women) from around the world, including America have expressed concerns about doing business in Japan as a result of this fiasco.

Abe asked Trump to bring up the kidnapped Japanese when he had discussions with Kim.

Visitation rights for family members of people held on suspension is a given, Carlos is not incarcerated at this time but not allowed to even talk to his wife.

Hey Blacklable,

In the United States on Memorial Day, we start every event with a solemn service or a moment of silence

Memorial day is the official beginning of summer, we BBQ, we run the Indie 500 and the Coca-Cola 600, we have baseball games.

Freedom, that's what these guys died for.

Linconman, thank you for your service. To which"real president" do you refer? By the way the speech was in a country that cost 161,000 servicem their lives.

Personal: where in the sandbox did you serve?

Posted in: Abe says he is outraged over stabbing rampage See in context

When are you people going to grow up? There are no guarantees of your safety. Japan, thought of as a "safe country" but victims of the Tokyo subway sarin attack along with countless instances of random violence, Norway, thought of as a"safe country" but Andesr Bleivek killed 77 and injured 319. New Zealand last month 49 dead but a "safe country".

Sometimes there are signs of mental illnesses and sometimes people just go over the edge. Yet people blame society, the government &ect.

One thing I learned a long time ago, stay vigilant, you probably can't stop it but you can react.

Oh, and by the way, when I was at Camp Liberty at BIAP in 2005, I went to the Japanese camp on base and talked with the JGSDF guys there. Their mission was logistical support but it was still a combat zone.
